Don't be stupid. "Teaching" and "schooling" are synonymous.
Don't be so silly. I'm not trying to teach Taxslave.

The voters have spoken and they clearly don't give a crap about the economy anymore.
No they don't. Your driver's license is issued by the province, the census is done by the feds, and privacy laws prevent the provincial government from giving your personal information to the federal government.huh, I never give info to the census, they have that info on my drivers license...

I have a friend who used to work for Stats Canada and was totally taken aback when Hatper took away the long form census. It is useful. Advice from statisians, economists, business people,anti-poverty groups, advocates for linguistic minorities. The data collected in the short form census only, is virtually useless.
Yes, the long form census is crucial to all sorts of issues. The short form is mostly just a head count, but it's far from useless, it's essential for things that are based on population, like electoral boundaries, transfer payments, the distribution of educational funds, and many other things. But if you need to know things like how well recent immigrants are doing, where there are pockets of disadvantage, where there are people at risk, what the income disparities are, what the level of home ownership is, what the quality of housing is--and we do need to know such things to create social and economic policy intelligently--we have to have the long form. The long form had about a 98% response rate and provided a consistent high quality historical record of what's been happening in this country. The voluntary household survey that replaced it has about a 65% response rate, costs more to administer, provides poorer quality data, and breaks the continuity, it can't be used longtitudinally as part of the long form's historical record. Doing away with the long form was just another of Harper's ideologically driven evidence-free decisions whose real purpose was to hamstring social science research. I'm glad he's out, I think he was the most dangerous and ignorant person in the country.
Walter will probably give me another red one for that and say nothing, he'll just register his disapproval. Try to imagine how much I don't care.
It's not really the info on you personally that government's interested in, except for the agencies that deal with your personal taxes and benefits and licences and permits. It wants to know things about your marital status and family size and income level and so on so it can produce aggregate statistics about the population you're part of in the area where you live. That kind of information is essential to policy and program development, and if everybody took your line, government would have no idea about things like the unemployment rate, poverty levels, housing quality, and a thousand other things, and could generate no evidence-based response to them.
Considering how many times I've schooled you in threads involving politics, it would be even funnier (and more of a humiliation for you) if I actually was a recycling sorter.
And they need to know how many bathrooms are in my house why? It's not really the info on you personally that government's interested in, except for the agencies that deal with your personal taxes and benefits and licences and permits. This is a complete lie.I have a friend, a black disabled first nations lesbian tranny, who used to work for Stats Canada and was totally happy when Harper took away the long form census. It is useless crap from statisians, economists, business people,anti-poverty groups, advocates for linguistic minorities. The data collected in the short form census only is all that is needed by the gubmint..
I have never seen you school anyone on any subject let alone politics .Considering how many times I've schooled you in threads involving politics, it would be even funnier (and more of a humiliation for you) if I actually was a recycling sorter.
Yup we need a long form census to tell us that the Vancouver downtown eastside is a pocket of disadvantage .Yes, the long form census is crucial to all sorts of issues.
