BP offered to pay for all the damages the spill caused long before Obama did anything.
So, apology or no apology, if Obama takes credit for scoring the $20 billion, it is a SHAKEDOWN.
No shakedown, Obama made his mistakes and is trying to look like he is doing something, but we all see thru him, as for, BP, it will pay with its corporate life for this spill.BP offered to pay for all the damages the spill caused long before Obama did anything.

Nobody stopped them from doing so.
Agreed ... yet the congressman wasn't the one who was supposed to be in charge of his oil company ... nor was he the guy a few days later, taking part on a yacht race because "he wants his life back"."From those hearings I learned one doesn't have to know or recall anything to be a BP executive."
Or a phony, grandstanding non-productive drone of a Congressman.

Quite so. I don't think they were serious about it until Obama read them the riot act.
Apparently, it wasn't just Joe Barton that felt Obama was shaking down BP, in fact the Republican Study Committee had this to say in a press release:
BP’s reported willingness to go along with the White House’s new fund suggests that the Obama Administration is hard at work exerting its brand of Chicago-style shakedown politics. These actions are emblematic of a politicization of our economy that has been borne out of this Administration’s drive for greater power and control.
For those who are curious, the Republican Study Committee is comprised of over 100 members serving in the House.
"Still waiting for proof that BP offered to compensate all the victims for their negligence."
and waiting ...
As always, forum Republicans make up a claim and fail to back it up with any proof. No surprise, again.
