Found an interesting article this morning. BC Ferries is working towards electric ferries. They already have a number of CNG boats and one on a string that is diesel. There are a couple that are hybrid as well. The kicker is that many of the same people that are pushing for all electric boats are also wanting to shut down construction at Site C, where the needed power will come from.

The odds of having too much renewable energy is somewhat higher than the odds of turdOWE doing something good for Canada.
Ontario really does. Although not so much renewable as emissions-free. Nuclear power in Ontario generally cranks out around 10,000MW per hr. However, the previous Liberal govt in Ontario only contracted 3% of nuclear power generation to be used in Ontario. The rest is exported. Same with hydro. Again only 3% of its generation was allocated to Ontario, the rest was exported with regular losses which the Ontario ratepayer was forced to subsidize.

As of 11:45 this morning, Ontario is putting out enough power to supply over 11 million households. Nuclear is at almost 10,000MW. Hydroelectric is putting out 5000MW. Wind and it's 4800MW installed capacity is just cranking it out at a paltry 194MW. FYI, for wind that's a drop of over 20MW in just the last hour.

If we could hook Canada up to a single grid without any of the national security concerns, Ontario and Quebec could power the entire country with emissions-free electricity. F*ck the US.

Some clever lass or lad is going to come up with an engine that can eat anything: oil from any source, alcohol, hydrogen. Another clever lad or lass will come up with hyper-efficient photovoltaics.

Some of us will stand in awe, and some will piss and moan.

So it goes.
Someone is going to reinvent the two stroke diesel engine or the turbine?

Great call.

Well, looks like the Alberta border might soon start at the western edge of New Brunswick: http://nationalpost.com/news/politi...-to-avoid-shutdown-of-key-line-5-oil-pipeline

Officials in Michigan are looking to force the shutdown of Line 5, a pipeline carrying 540,000 barrels of oil and other petroleum products each day from Superior, Wis., to refineries in Sarnia, Ont. If successful, Canadian officials warn, the move would have a devastating impact on the Canadian economy, vaporizing thousands of jobs and cutting off a crucial supply of gasoline and jet fuel to Ontario and Quebec.

If only Canada had something like a pipeline from the the west to the farther eastern extremity of what might soon be in the same whipped situation as Western Canada (....but Greta & Wokeness?) inside Canada (=above the Great lakes through Thunder bay etc....) to protect our national interests. Justin better start consulting First Nations in BC right now to get approval to get Oil & Gas from Alberta & Saskatchewan across Canada east to Ontario & Quebec (or we could call them Alberta2 & Alberta3). If only someone would have envisioned a need for something like this and perhaps we could have called it something like "Energy East" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Energy_East or something catchy like that? Shame....but maybe there might be some pipe sitting from the cancelled Keystone permit...but in the current political climate created in the last 5yrs....can't see something like this getting built....unless Trudeau isn't going to treat Ontario & Quebec like Saskatchewan & Alberta?? Anyway....

The bottom line, in terms of the economy, is it’s a big threat,” said Joe Comartin, the Canadian government’s consul-general in Detroit. Stakes in the project are high enough that Michigan’s decision “certainly has the potential for damaging our relationship” with the United States, he said in an interview. You know, unlike the 100,000 jobs thrown to the wolves in the West in the oil & gas industry.

Line 5 is yet another point of contention between the U.S. and Canada on the energy file after President Joe Biden revoked a permit for Keystone XL on his first day in office. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, a long-time supporter of Keystone XL, expressed disappointment but ultimately “acknowledged” the president’s decision. The decision angered some Western leaders, particularly Alberta Premier Jason Kenney, whose government took a $1.5-billion equity stake in the project.

Ontario has warned that shutting down Line 5 would cut off nearly half of the crude oil it needs to make petroleum products such as gasoline. All of the jet fuel used at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport is made in Sarnia, and distributed through Line 5. It also carries propane used to heat homes in northern Michigan and Ontario, and supports thousands of jobs on both sides of the border. Line 5 is part of Enbridge’s mainline system, which delivers roughly 2.8 million barrels of oil — more than half of Canada’s total production — from northern Alberta to the U.S. Midwest every day. More at the above LINK.

Yes, you're right. Everything that could possibly be of use has already been invented. We should follow Herbert Hoover's advice and shut down the patent office.
Hey Kemosabe, long time no see huh?

Of course I'm rght, I'm always fucking right

Everything of use already exists in and only in mathematics and geometry.

By all means, please explain how a patent is anything but
mathematics and geometry that didnt previously exist. A patent is just proof of concept that was drawn from mathematics and geometry. It is merely a recipe.

That's what they were huntering for...all they were looking for was some crack in the armor of decency.

But all those legitimate voters are watching.

It's been two weeks.

Still not killed.
Have things improved in Q3 & Q4?

lElectric vehicle sales in Canada fell sharply in Q2 2020,

A steep, across-the-board drop in auto sales hit zero-emission vehicles even harder than gas-powered transport, but ZEV market share still rose in first half of 2020 compared to the same period in 2019

Zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) sales in Canada saw a marked decline in the second quarter of 2020, with only 9,069 sold between April and June, according to sales figures provided by Electric Mobility Canada (EMC) to Electric Autonomy. That number includes battery electric vehicles as well as plug-in hybrids and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
The results represent a drop of over 50 per cent from the 18,032 sold in the same period in 2019. EVs’ overall light vehicle market share in Q2 also dropped to 2.9 per cent from the 3.4 per cent they held for the same period in 2019
