I actually liked some of the ideas of the Reform Party. I think one problem was the kinds of people it attracted, at least in Vancouver where I was at the time. It seemed many Reform Party supporters harboured quite a few ethnic and other prejudices.
I'll admit to my youth and ignorance too in that rather than really trying to know the local candidate (who might have turned out to be different from the average grasroots supporter), I allowed myself to be influenced by those supporters and so essentially hold him guilty by association.
Sure that was my mistake and I should have given him a chance and tried to actually get to know him before making my judgement about him, but I guess it's inevitable that some younger voters will be influenced by the grassroots support of a party and candidate and so hold them guilty by association.

I'd be just as worried about the real intentions of the Libs under an American.
Funny, Reform had the most multicultural caucus in the House, moreso than the Liberals, and much moreso than the Bloc or NDP.
I loved it when that tall lady......whatsername....Ontario Liberal cabinet minister, yelled "racist" at the Reform Indian Affairs critic. (on instruction from her masters in the PMO).

The Reform Party had some teething problems, getting rid of a few racist psychos looking for a new home, but they did a good job of eliminating them.......and appealed very much to Canada's immigrant population.
I think that was the biggest problem of the Reform Party; it attracted zealots from the fringes.
You're quite right; that's why I'd said I was impressed with some of the members in the media, and I should have ignored the local grassroots supporters and got to know the local candidate better. My bad. He may have been different.
Exactly. But I don't know to what degree the reform Party was really to blame for this seeing that it officially rejected such bigotry. The NDP faces a similar problem by the way.
But if I could have done it over again, I certainly would have tried to get to know the local candidate better and judged him on his own merits and not on those of his supporters.
Interesting, the only reason I don't vote for the cons is because of my local candidate.
And when are you guys going to finally get it through your heads that there is very little difference between any political parties. They are all tarred with the same brush, corruption, theft, skulduggery, lying running rampant through out and what I really can't understand is why anyone would be a "slave" to any of them- it would be less painful just to go and beat your head against a concrete wall for an hour. :lol::lol::lol:
