With respect to election interference, I think the main issue is countries like China getting control of our Natural Resources by owning politicians that would vote in China's interest, rather than Canadian taxpayer's interest. China and India, and possibly some other countries looking to export more of their citizens to Canada. I suppose the US as well with resources, but our economies are so integrated that it is hard to tell what is foreign interference and what is just business as usual.Canada is resource rich, so there could be other countries that would want us to cut exports of products they need to sell on the world market.
Well. . . if China pays for those resources, why shouldn't China control them?

I don't think they intend to pay for them. Or they get favourable treatment like they did with HD mine. In that case, they got to use Chinese labour at their own pay rate, instead of Canadian pay and bennies, and were not regulated by Canadian safety rules.

And now we're getting someplace close to my actual point. There are so many ways to funnel money to a candidate or her surrogates that the only effective way to keep political money "pure" is by a broad social consensus. But running a party or a country on hate makes such a consensus impossible. Hell, down here we're so high on hate that a mediocre candidate is running neck-and-neck with a convicted felon who has been found liable for cheating, lying, sexual assault, racial discrimination, and really bad makeup.
And who is this mediocre candidate ? Kackling Kamala is far from mediocre , she is down right awful . And the hate directed towards the convicted felon ( LOL ) coming from your side started towards that felon the moment he announced his run . Long before the long arm of your Justice Department decided to play lawfare .
Harris mediocre , that is the funniest thing you have posted all year .

I see it as a choice between bad(Trump) and evil(Harris). No wonder voter turnout is so low. One would think in a country nearing 400 million people, some better candidates could be found.

Why is there so much hate anyway? It never used to be this way. I believe it's all down to the Progressives, anarchists & Marxists leaders that we have in (both) governments who have destroyed the cohesion we used to have. They've done it on purpose so that people become pissed enough that they want governments to "do something" and when they do "do something" it's usually not to OUR benefit but to theirs!

Politics in the last 20 or so years (maybe more) are solely responsible for all the hatred out there, the divisive policies & hateful comments towards one another. It's disgusting.

Of course. The other side always started it. Your side is pure, innocent, and when you express anger and hate, it's because those bastards done ya wrong!

????????????? Former Public Safety minister Bill Blair says he never received several top-secret documents destined for his desk — including a Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) issues management note about China's attempts to target two Canadian members of Parliament.

Testifying before the inquiry into foreign interference Friday, Blair also maintained that he never knew about a warrant application for an investigation into foreign interference until he signed it — 54 days after CSIS had first requested it.

"I can't approve something I don't know anything about," Blair told the inquiry. "So when it was brought to my attention, it was always my practice — and it was more than practice, it was every case — dealt with very promptly." ??????????

Blair's former chief of staff, Zita Astravas, told the inquiry earlier in the week that she was briefed on the warrant 13 days after CSIS sent it to Public Safety and received another briefing on the list of third parties, also known as a Vanweenan list. She said she could not explain the delay in getting the warrant to Blair between the day she was briefed and the day he signed the warrant. ???????
While former deputy minister of Public Safety Rob Stewart told the inquiry that briefing binders for Blair continued during the pandemic and were sent to his office, Blair testified that he never received those binders and received very few documents. ??????????

I believe him to be the most inept & incompetent Minister in Trudy's cabinet & that's saying something since there are far more inept Ministers than anything else.

Canada's foreign affairs minister says she didn't know that foreign interference was taking place in Canada until she learned about it through a media report, the commission of inquiry heard Thursday.

Mélanie Joly said that while the federal government had been watching for interference in Canadian politics by other countries and has documented six cases, she only learned of it in May 2023 when it was reported that Conservative MP Michael Chong had been targeted by the Chinese government.

Although Joly had been appointed foreign affairs minister in October 2021, she said information about foreign interference hadn't been part of the briefing material that she received from the department.

Wow, I wouldn't say that this government was inept or incompetent are they? Really? Huh, just like Biden. Gee, I wonder if Trudy is taking a page out of Biden's (inept/incompetent) book - nah, that's just a "conspiracy theory."

Inept? Nope. They knew there was interference.
This was to their advantage, so why mess with a good thing?

True that.
Why else did they fight tooth and nail to withhold the evidence?
They ignored it because it was to their benefit to ignore it.
They were also too busy stuffing their pockets with ill-gotten cash from policies and investments based on those policies.
There was also the 400 million dollar green slush fund they're stalling parliament over for those not in the inner circle.
This government is as corrupt as a Mexican Police department.
