Canada certainly wants to help... It's just that most folks believe that helping in a form that stops the bloodshed and senseless murders is more effective than sending a box of a band-aids when someone is chopped into little pieces
not all/every country thought it had to "help" by sending bomb-trucks, did they? Again, Germany, Italy, Norway... no bomb-trucks... wassup with them? There are many ways for military involvement other than a direct combat role; do you really think 6 bomb-trucks added makes a hill of beans difference to what the U.S./UK will bring? So ya, taking a leading role in support/assistance for refugees... what a concept, hey?

Let's not forget some toques and some nice scarves.
Maybe Joe Clark can wrangle some mittens.
I suspect most of the people who blindly follow the hairdo, are shallow, mindless and easily swayed by pretty things. You are so considerate.... You dropped that in because you suspect Waldo is a fashionista, right?
Maybe you should stick to what's actually said, instead of making it up as you go. Your posts look stupid when you do that.ITT, warmongers mock humanitarian aid.

Ummm, no, lol.Wanna bet?
Nope, they can't.Wow. You really can't see it, can you?
Ummm, no, lol.
Nope, they can't.
It leaves me with something to make fun of. I like that.I should be used to it, I guess, but it still leaves me gobsmacked.
Providing parkas to those about to be massacred deserves nothing but mockery.
Robert Kennedy once said "In a crisis, expect all aid from Canada short of actual help".
I wonder if the Liberals were in gov't then??
Wanna bet?
ITT, warmongers mock humanitarian aid.
There is an actual humanitarian crisis going on in the region. In wars people actually die of things other than bombs and bullets. The situation in Iraq and Syria is not your cowboy fantasy. This is a confluence of two tendencies of willful ignorance. The details about foreign crises when killing people is an option and Justin Trudeau existing. Can you imagine if Trudeau suggested we bring in refugees from this? Your head would explode!
You can find out on "the internet". First search the quote and find out when he said it. Then find a list of Canadian PMs and find out who was in office at the time.
Yes, there certainly a humanitarian crisis from the war in Syria.....to which we have donated $630 million, and offered to take in 1365 refugees (I hope to God they are Christian)
But that is not a solution. In fact, there is no solution. But the way to end genocide is kill ISIS. The only way.
Reality bites.
So, oh Liberal one, what about R2P, the much-touted Liberal Party of Canada introduced "Responsibility to Protect"?
I guess you guys were just talking through your hat, talking tough as it were.......but when push comes to shove........well, too bad for the victims of genocide. Gee, am I ever surprised.
BTW, R2P does NOT mean protect against a cool breeze.
Admittedly, R2P is not limited to military action. Together with my colleagues in the Liberal Party, I have long proposed a series of non-military initiatives to come to the aid of civilians in Syria and Iraq, including enhanced humanitarian assistance, protection for victims of sexual violence, and criminal prosecution of the perpetrators of international crimes, including Syrian President Assad. Yet, when confronted by radical evil – by the genocidal slaughter of innocents – force may be required. Indeed, it is because of international inaction three years ago against Syria’s criminal Assad regime that radical jihadists – including ISIL – have been able to take root, develop, and engage in a campaign of abhorrent brutality.

At the same time, the Government’s motion lacks clarity about what the strategic nature and limits of Canada’s mission will be. It mentions airstrike capability as only one element of a larger contribution of unnamed Canadian military assets; it does not specify where these assets will be deployed; and it has been less clear than warranted about the mission’s objectives, costs, command, and rules of engagement.
.
Moreover, the Government has neither briefed nor consulted with the leaders of the opposition, nor has it shared more fulsome information about the mission that would have helped Parliamentarians to make an informed choice.
