Millionaires and billionaires to urge Congress not to cut their taxes

More than 400 millionaires and billionaires will reportedly ask Congress not to cut their taxes.
The group, which includes doctors, lawyers and chief executives, plans to send a letter to Congress and ask that their taxes not be cut under the GOP tax overhaul, The Washington Post reported.
The letter asks Congress not to pass a bill that "further exacerbates inequality." It also says the tax bill should not add to the country's debt.
The letter, put together by Responsible Wealth, a network that promotes progressive issues, says the GOP plan should increase taxes on the wealthy. Some people who have signed onto the letter include Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream founders Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield, fashion designer Eileen Fisher, billionaire hedge fund manager George Soros and philanthropist Steven Rockefeller.

Will there be any campaign donation checks attached to this request? Cuz there sure were when they asked for special treatment for their corporations.

No different than every other economic demographic demanding no tax hikes

Buffet pays less Income Tax.. The comment is carefully crafted to omit the reality that he pays 8-9 figures annually in taxes related to his dividend income.

Technically, what he stated was accurate, but all the while, he still pays more taxes in 1 year than his secretary will earn in 50 years

Prominent conservative activist Tony Perkins, who heads the Council for National Policy as well as the Family Research Council, knew about allegations that an Ohio Republican state lawmaker fondled an 18-year-old college student without his consent, The Washington Post reported Friday.

Perkins was told about former Ohio state Rep. Wesley Goodman's (R) alleged fondling of a supporter's son during a conference in Washington, D.C., two years ago, according to the report.

Goodman, 33, resigned this week after state lawmakers learned of what Ohio's House Speaker called "inappropriate behavior related to his state office.”

Former state Sen. (R) Ralph Shortey has agreed to plead guilty to a child sex trafficking offense for offering to pay a 17-year-old boy for sexual “stuff” last March.

In exchange for his guilty plea, federal prosecutors have agreed to drop three child pornography counts against him.

A jury trial for Shorty had been set to begin Dec. 5 in Oklahoma City federal court. He is now scheduled to plead guilty Nov. 30 instead.

By making a deal, Shortey, 35, hopes to avoid being locked up for nearly the rest of his life. Still, he will be required to serve at least a 10-year prison term, the mandatory minimum time for child sex trafficking.

Former House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) has been barred from having contact with minors except in the presence of an adult who knows about his past sexual abuse of boys, according to new orders handed down by an Illinois judge.

The Chicago Tribune reported on Tuesday that Hastert is prohibited from having contact with any minors “except in the presence of a responsible adult who is aware of the nature of his/her background and current offense.”

The Tribune reported that the new terms of his release also bar Hastert from possessing “pornographic, sexually oriented, or sexually stimulating materials, including visual, auditory, telephonic, or electronic media, computer programs, or services,” as well as using any “sex-related telephone numbers.”

The new order was handed down by U.S. District Judge Thomas Durkin following a report from the probation department, according to the Tribune.

Hastert was released from a Minnesota federal prison in July after serving 13 months for a bank fraud conviction linked to his efforts to conceal his past sexual abuse of teenage boys.
