Don't forget, Camilla is now also Queen.

So Britain and Canada have King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

New King expected to address the nation tomorrow

Sean Coughlan

Royal correspondent

The next few days will see preparations for the Queen’s funeral and the transition to the reign of King Charles III.

On Friday this is likely to include a gun salute, King Charles and Queen Camilla returning to London and the new King holding his first audience with the new Prime Minister Liz Truss.

An address to the nation is expected from King Charles.

The Accession Council, the ceremonial gathering for the official proclamation of the new King, is expected to be held on Saturday.

The choreography of these national events, alongside the public mourning, will begin to be unfurled.

As the one here most directly affected, Blackleaf, you have my condolences and sympathy. Her Majesty was a titan.

Thanks, T-Bones.

Even my mother, who is no big Royalist, is upset at the news. She admired the Queen and the duty she served for 70 years.

She was the greatest monarch this country has had in over 1000 years of monarchy.

What a momentous week for the United Kingdom. A new Prime Minister and then a new Monarch two days later. Is that a record?
