Having been to university and having a child there now I know that most of the students are not good material to work with and are wasting their time and my money.

Yippee, another reddy from Walter the Wanker. Must be on the right track.

From what I've seen of you on here I would agree your time at uni was a waste of time and money. If your kid is anything like you the same would apply.

I have 1 son already in UBC studying computer engineering. His grades have earned him an invite to interview at MIT for the spring, no idea how I will pay for that but if he gets in I'll find a way. My other son is in grade 12 and looks like he will be accepted to the UBC school of medicine. Hardly a waste of time or money.

I guess the apple does fall far from the horse.

Trade school is basically free.

Mine wasn't. It cost me about the same as a year away at university. The tuition was marginally cheaper, but the living expenses were entirely the same.

In another trade offered at my school, there were about 20 students in the electrical program. Two of them were there paid by employers. The rest were paying their own way, with loans like the rest of us. One came from Newfoundland to take the program at the Nova Scotia Community College, and had to come to my campus because the campus in Cape Breton had no space left in their electrical program.

It may sound funny to talk about basket weaving and leather working, but it's extremely disingenuous to finger paint that as anything like the norm. Some people sure, they take bird courses. But that is hardly what they major in...unless the went to Saint Francis Xavier. You get a degree by walking across campus. The ring will cost you though.
