......... Of course there could be many other viewpoints, but where would you draw the line to the right to private property?
Last I checked, there's really no such thing as Private Property in Canada. We basically rent our property from the Government, via property taxes, while the rest of the land in Canada is Crown Property.... therefore we don't have absolute freedom to do whatever we wish on that property..... and thus, that's why we have regulations & restrictions to adhere to in regards to what we can and can not do on "Our" property.
It's similar to how you don't really own the apartment you're renting, have to abide to certain regulations and requirements and can't just do whatever you please to the apartment, such as paint the walls polka dot pink or tear down a wall and make a disco out of your living room.
The property your house is on is quite similar, though with a few less restrictions and a few more freedoms.
