Prince Harry to marry girlfriend Meghan Markle next year

Prince Harry is to marry his American actress girlfriend Meghan Markle.

The prince, fifth in line to the throne, will marry Ms Markle in spring 2018 and they will live at Nottingham Cottage in Kensington Palace, London.
The couple, who have been dating since the summer of 2016, secretly got engaged earlier this month.

They posed for photographs outside Kensington Palace, with Prince Harry saying he was "thrilled" and it had been a romantic proposal.

A smiling Ms Markle, wearing a white belted coat, held Harry's hand as they appeared briefly for the press, and showed off her diamond engagement ring.

Announcing his son's news on Twitter, Prince Charles also said he was "thrilled", adding that Ms Markle's parents had given their blessing.

Only the Queen and "other close members of his family" initially knew of the engagement, which took place in London, Prince Charles said.

The announcement, issued by Clarence House, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall's official residence, said details about the wedding day would be unveiled "in due course".

The engaged couple appeared for photographs outside Kensington Palace on Monday afternoon, and a TV interview they are giving to the BBC's Mishal Husain will be broadcast at 18:00 BST.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh said they were "delighted for the couple and wish them every happiness", a Buckingham Palace spokesman said.

Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, said they were "very excited for Harry and Meghan", adding: "It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together."

Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, whose predecessor officiated at the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's wedding in 2011, wished them "many years of love, happiness and fulfilment".

Prime Minister Theresa May offered her "very warmest congratulations" and wished the couple "great happiness for the future".

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said: "I wish them well - I hope they have a great life together."

He joked: "Having met Harry a couple of times I'm sure they're going to have a great deal of fun together."

Ms Markle's parents, Thomas Markle and Doria Ragland, said their daughter was a "kind and loving person" and they were "incredibly happy".

They added: "To see her union with Harry, who shares the same qualities, is a source of great joy for us as parents."

Prince Harry, 33 and Ms Markle, 36, made their first public appearance as a couple in September at the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games, a sporting event set up by the prince for injured, wounded and sick soldiers.

Their married home will be the prince's current residence, Nottingham Cottage, on the grounds of Kensington Palace - where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, with Prince George and Princess Charlotte, also have an apartment.

Their 16-month relationship began in July 2016 when they met through mutual friends in London.

Prince Harry first confirmed his relationship with Ms Markle in November 2016, in a statement from Kensington Palace attacking the media for subjecting her to a "wave of abuse and harassment".

That statement said the couple were "a few months into a relationship" and it was "not right" that Ms Markle should receive such treatment.

It described nightly legal battles to keep defamatory stories out of papers, attempts by reporters and photographers to get into her home and the "bombardment" of nearly every friend and loved one in her life.

Ms Markle spoke about her love for the prince for the first time in September - telling Vanity Fair magazine: "We're two people who are really happy and in love".

She said the pair were enjoying a "special" time together, adding: "I'm sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time."

Ms Markle may not have been a familiar name in Britain until recently, but in the US she is better known for her role as Rachel Zane in TV legal drama Suits.

She attended a private primary school before studying at a girls' Roman Catholic college and later graduating from Northwestern University School of Communication in 2003, just as her acting career was beginning.

Until recently, a union with Ms Markle would have ruled Prince Harry out of succeeding to the throne - due to her being a Roman Catholic.

But new rules on royal succession came into force in 2015, allowing members of the Royal Family to marry a Roman Catholic and become king or queen.

The instant Prince Harry and Ms Markle are pronounced "man and wife" she will automatically become Her Royal Highness, Princess Henry of Wales.

However, she does not automatically become Princess Meghan - because she is not of royal blood.

The Queen's late sister Margaret was entitled to call herself Princess Margaret. The Queen's daughter is Princess Anne and her granddaughters are Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

Royal Family tree and line of succession

Royal baby: Duchess of Cambridge expecting third child

The Queen's great granddaughter, Prince William's daughter, is Princess Charlotte. All of these are, or were, of royal blood and so are princesses in their own right.

But Princess Charlotte's mother, the Duchess of Cambridge, is not known as Princess Catherine. Just as Sarah Ferguson was never Princess Sarah and Sophie Rhys-Jones (wife of Prince Edward) is not Princess Sophie.

Lady Diana Spencer was never officially Princess Diana. She was the Princess of Wales and, after her divorce from Prince Charles, she was Diana, Princess of Wales.

Yeah, what a catch.

Your post doesn't make a lot of sense. What would you change her age to? If she wasn't divorced he couldn't marry her legally unless they tied the knot in Bountiful. She can't help where she was born. 99.99% of us are commoners (it's not like he has much chance of being king) Actresses are legitimate people last I heard. Prince Rainier married an actress! Methinks you're "borrowing" trouble when none's required. :) :)

And furthermore she's likely a good match for his personality. I couldn't see him married to some dainty, prissy little thing!

The prince's red hair comes from his neanderthal genes.
( average 1 to 5 % since about 30,000 years ago since man and apeman had sex in the middle east.)
:)
LOL - the royals have the highest amounts of apeman DNA in their family

I wonder if she knows.

Well they have been interbreeding since the days of the neanderthal, to keep the ratio as high as possible, so the difference may not be as big as you think
:)
It does explain why the world is all messed up - look what's been running things the last couple thousand years.

I'm sure his wife won't mind a viking crawling between her legs.

That's hairy apeman viking

The English Royals lost the war against the European Bankers. They are nothing but hired hands anymore. There is even a vid out on the offspring that are locked away so nobody sees them. You would think that would be a sign that some new blood should be introduced as the royals aren't under siege anymore and escorts (with photo ID) make house-calls.

The part they should look at is they cannot promote incest as advancing mankind while in Georgia the best it can do is produce one damn good banjo player per decade, or so. Think how much more they would be liked if they disbanded on their own as they would have to fight against a new world order as you can't surrender to something that doesn't exist. Viking history doesn't tend to paint a picture of the long winters as being a time of quiet reflection of the past years accomplishments and failures. If the whole family is plastered to the gills no wonder everybody is making out with everybody. Perhaps if they slept at night and partied in the day you would be able to bend over in the same room as grandpa without getting groped, . . . or grandma as they are an equal opportunity family of molesters.

To say nothing of viking leprechauns. Guess which one is the viking.

Then you have the local "lord" boffing the newlywed bride BEFORE the husband gets to on the wedding night...

Is that so she can say that 'Daddy says she kisses best' as they get ready to hit the bed? They all need a vacation.

If I had Harry’s money, I certainly would not buy a used vehicle, especially a foreign one that is made up of parts from different makers, eh

People's characters can change over time (sometimes for the worse, sometimes for the better). Their past can serve as an indicator of their present, but it doesn't paint the entire picture.

And on the subject of divorce: who says she divorced her previous husband? Maybe he divorced her for no valid reason for all I know.

And what about the Prince's past/ No, please don't answer that: I don't want to know; it's just a rhetorical question. We always question the woman's character, but what about the man's?

Why did Trevor and Meghan get divorced? And when?

The couple separated just two years after their wedding and were divorced in August 2013, citing “irreconcilable differences”.
A source claimed to Woman’s Day magazine that Meghan's role as Rachel Zane on hit TV show Suits was to blame.
The insider said: "Meghan landed her role in Suits just a few months before they married.
"And despite being together for six years before getting hitched, things started to fall apart not long after the wedding."
The source added that a long distance relationship didn’t work for Meghan and Trevor, adding: "They really battled with long distances.
"Trevor was based in LA while Meghan was in Toronto, a five-hour flight away. It was a very difficult way to start married life."

Scuttlebut is every gf Harry had, they dumped him because he has massive mommy issues,
which isn't a surprise.

What's her name, Meghan, will not get along with Kate. Mark my words.

About a yr after they are married, you will see cracks start to appear in the Royal family relationship.
Kate will not cater to what's her name, and what's her name will start with the bossy issues.
