this is why the Catholic church has lost so many...when they get their focus back on healing, and love and acceptance, they will grow again...my fear is many old Catholic right wingers are going to have to die off first.

Hopefully buddy here can lead the charge...he seems ready, willing and able. He gets the ways of the human heart.

When was it that they lost those qualities they have to get back?

Wether we like it or not churches have a lot of political clout if for no reason that politicians would ***** their own kids if they thought it would buy them a vote. Promise a block of votes and a politician would pay YOU to fuk his kid. It is nice to see the catholic church creep slowly towards the 20th century before the 21st is half over.
Churches of course are are always on the lookout for new sources of revenue and a group that represents aprox 10% of the population is worth bending some rules to court.

He argues the right of gays to marry in the church?

Don't be ridiculous. There is no way that the Catholic Church will be making that jump any time soon. Baby steps. I have argues, for years, for the rights of Gays to be able to marry period. Now, in Canada, Gays can get married to their life mates. That's step one. When it comes to the Catholic Church, the next step will be getting the Church to recognize that GBLT people are God's children also and that God does not make mistakes. Therefore they are perfection in God's eyes the same as Hetro's. THAT is going to be a long haul, especially with narrow minded people like cs fighting tooth and nail against it.

You'll never hear a priest mention politics in Mass or admin meetings. EVER.

The Church has no "political clout" and has zero influence on the X you put on a ballot.

It's funny to see those who don't attend and participate in the Parish babbling about things they have no clue about.

Good luck with that one. It would certainly raise my opinion of cults in general if it happens.

Why? The RCC has and always will be a refuge for Gays and Lesbians. It's where they went for safety and refuge when it was illegal to be Gay or Lesbian.

It's been only 50 some years since it Gay and Lesbian laws were struck down.

So much for "lagging behind the times".

Read up on Alan Turing and how we lost one of the greatest minds of the last century due to laws and Court ordered atrocities due to gay and lesbian illegality.

Correction...it was 19 f*cking 69 when gay and lesbian laws were struck down in Canada.

1969.... only 44 years.
