Poland welcomes US soldiers, Patriot missiles

Polish and U.S. officials hailed the arrival in Poland of an American Patriot missile battery, saying Wednesday that the hardware and soldiers close to the Russian border enhance Polish security but pose no threat to Russia.

MORAG, Poland — Polish and U.S. officials hailed the arrival in Poland of an American Patriot missile battery, saying Wednesday that the hardware and soldiers close to the Russian border enhance Polish security but pose no threat to Russia.

The Patriot battery arrived Sunday at a base in Morag, a town in northeastern Poland 37 miles (60 kilometers) from Russia's westernmost point, the Kaliningrad exclave.

Kaliningrad is what the Russians call the old Prussian city of Konigsberg. They never relinquished it after WW2.

Good question, I don't think Russia counts them as independents anymore, Don't think Russia told them yet.

Any disclosure on what Poland received as payment, other than a 'promise' that the missiles would not target them and a few pallets of crisp $100 bills for a few called the 'Elite' I suspect.

Canada is not the center of anything. We can't seem to agree on much of anything. The difference between the US and Canada is that we were not force fed the "We are the Greatest" doctrine since birth, all through school and in our military. We don't go around trying to make the world in our own image and we certainly do not go around telling people and countries how to run their own affairs (although Harpy would certainly love to follow in your footsteps on that one.)

Not really. Patriot missle systems take no longer to maintain than an M1 tank. You train a soldier, he maintains a Patriot Missle for his enlistment. You train a soldier he maintains his tank for his enlistment.
