why would a fit 34 year old have a stroke?

that's insane!

Leiden Factor 5 and being 1 of the 1 in 5 with a hole between left and right ventricles allowing a thrombus to travel from the veinous side to the arterial side of the circulatory system. Without the hole in her heart she would have had a pulmonary embolism instead.

That's how.

People wondering why "most" of these healthy people are dying so young from strokes......

She had a thrombus. Coke can't cause clots.

Kinda like that popular long distance runner years ago. Can't remember his name but a non smoker,,health guru. Dropped dead from a heart attack. And then you have the rag time piano player Eubie Blake years ago who was a chain smoker all his life and I think he lived to 99 years of age. Ya never know.

A lot of it has to do with genes, a little bit to do with luck and a bit to with attitude!

It's always sad when beautiful women die.
this is exactly what i thought,as these were my first thoughts,
"the world lost another beautiful woman",
what misfortune.

It is usually where one is perched upon the "fitness spectrum",on how one will view "long healthy lives",
right now i have lowered myself on the fitness spectrum, this will be short lived,as I do hope to have some better fittness in the days to come,
with all this being said,I expect to live a long time,as does everyone else.

My grand father died from a stroke at the age of 69 in 1950. I always thought the cause of his condition was because of his diet. I'm told,,as I never met him,, he loved redeye gravy and fried spuds. But maybe it's genetic because several of us boys two generations later have died from heart attacks. I myself have to take medicine for high blood pressure and thyroid issues so maybe it is inherited. who knows.

My family doesn't get cancer (at all). There have been no heart attacks recorded. Altzheimers is unknown. What gets us is strokes and it happens on both sides of my long lived family. The unfortunste part is that strokes don't necessarily kill you but leave you wounded and damaged until the end of your long life. So far, so good for me but I am genuinely concerned.

I don't blame you. I guess my granddad was fortunate to not suffer the lingering disabilities strokes cause. It killed him immediately. My aunt and my uncle died recently from brain aneurisms. We do die young on my dads side.

I watched my father die an inch at a time, one little stroke after another over three years. My mother died suddenly of a pulmonary embolism (threw a clot) that apparently occurred as a side effect of some blood pressure medication that she had just been put on (It was only slightly high only but due to family history, they put her on it anyway)

That sucks.... I wasnt targeting her, but i could see my statement was still kinda blanket.... Coke still might not directly cause clots, but the amount of other added stress it causes to your circulatory system, well.....

I have known a few people that seemed really healthy and one of my best friends
went to the Doctor for a checkup and was in great health, three weeks later one
morning his wife called me and said Joe died of a massive heart attack last night.
Ya never know when your number is up or why life is a crap shoot.

My blood pressure is a consistent 170/120 with a heart rate of 135 or higher I have no choice but to take medication. Sorry to hear about your dad that's a bad thing to go through really.
