I think those measures will need to continue for a reasonable period while the vaccine is rolled out. The roll out will take several months. And there may be a delay until it is effective once applied. But I think 6 months after rollout we should be able to return to normal.

Yes...and the stock market will continue to go up forever despite an obliterated economy, China is just simply misunderstood, and racism is the single biggest threat to modern society. Your optimism is quaint, but I don't share it and actually think it verges on delusional.

We'll see where we are in 6 months. Maybe the government will actually allow us to visit our family and friends again, or maybe it will still be "to dangerous." Maybe once we all receive our "Covid vaccination passport", life will simply revert back and all of our prior freedoms will be restored.....Governments will simply let go of the new unfettered power they have seized and suddenly gain a newfound respect for our Charter Rights & Freedoms, Constitution, and civil law.

Or maybe not.

I agree with you, but I think it will be almost a year from now when we can all breath a bit easier.

Yeah, we should all do what China is doing. Apparently they "flattened the curve" in April, they only have 371 active cases as of today. They've never breathed so easy.

True, but already the anti -vader idiots are actually protesting against the new anti-COVID vaccine in addition to their normal destructive moronic anti -measles, and other proven vaccines.

It almost sounds like you may be implying that any potential Covid vaccine would be considered unproven relative to traditional vaccines.

How dare those idiots protest being injected with a vaccine that has been fast-tracked at 1/10th the typical vaccine development and testing timeline. Selfish, just selfish.

There isnt a peer review process for new drugs or vaccines.
They are patent protected. No "peer" will ever get to review it until after the patent expires.
They need to meet FDA criteria to be approved and that's it.

Except it's important enough to mention and if it's important enough to mention...

https://www.statnews.com/2020/11/09...fective-early-data-from-large-trial-indicate/

The results have not been peer-reviewed by outside scientists or published in a medical journal, and even Pfizer and BioNTech have been given no other details about how the vaccine performed by the independent monitors overseeing the study.

The companies say that the vaccine is more than 90% effective at preventing COVID-19. The results are based on the first formal review of the data by an outside panel of experts, and have not yet been peer reviewed or published.

The trial’s data have not yet been submitted for peer-review publication.

Seems that the information still needs to be peer reviewed.

What are you Coumo's sister? Just pack them into the old folks home in the meantime..

Dam CBC viewers, I swear it's like a cult of stupidity

Have no idea who Coumo is and why they matter. Also, I don't watch or listen to CBC. I will rarely read something of theirs online, but I tend to get Canadian news from other sources.

I can't figure out if progressive cool-aid drinkers want this vaccine or if they don't want it. All we've been hearing is to forget about anything returning to normal until a vaccine is available.

That's cause you're an effin moron and apparently it's all too big for your big ah-brain.

Well oh dear, what's stopping them?

Maybe they arent going to publish? Why wouldnt they publish? All research and findings in the drug industry are chucked into the ether for review by anyone willing to repeat the findings isnt it?

Is that how it works?

I take it you must either be a progressive cool-aid drinker, or a progressive defender of the cool-aid. The ad hominem attack in place of a coherent argument gives you away. Apologies for hurting your delicate feels.

As soon as as Pfizer's trial is over and the results hold 20 Million doses will be delivered in Dec. to the elderly and front line workers in the USA. Just heard it on the radio

I'm gonna hang back on the vaccine, make sure nobody grows an arm out of their neck, or dies suddenly weeks after taking it. I was stuck with enough needles in the army, which makes me a little more cautious.

I might wait for the same reason, or until Pfizer combines the COVID 19 vaccine with the Pfizer Viagra drug in the same shot so I only have to get one shot. You know, whichever option comes first....

Why not just get COVID19 and be done with it.

All the symptoms are treatable if you even do experience symptoms at all.

Be ready and blitz at the first twitch. Our bodies know what to do, your mind should too. Get educated about treatment, stock up and lace your boots tightly.

I think I read that Pfizer had something like 45,000 volunteers in their 3rd phase testing

The standard testing procedures/protocols for pharmaceuticals is very rigorous and can take years to complete.

Hat's off to these volunteers but it's one helluva risk they are taking

I'm predicting a zombie apocalypse.

Consider the TV ads for things like hair-loss drugs where the side effects can include depression, cancer or death... A zombie apocalypse may not be so far out

Moderna just came out with a vaccine touting just under 95% success rate, warp speed says that if both hold they can have 20 Million doses by the end of Nov. and another 20 Million by the end of the year. No wonder Team Biden wants in on the conversation under the transition team.
