we must be mistaken...these smarmy liberals are, after all, our moral and intellectual superiors.

I've always thought a liberal was a moral and intelectual superior to a social conservative so it looks like we finally agree on something. Perhaps I may yet woo you to the fiscal conservative camp.

Possible. They all demand something for nothing while the rest of us are out working to get ahead and make a future for our kids and grandkids.

Oh hey now I'm a Liberal

Can't wait til I get to be Bloc lol

You really want to destroy Canada don't you.

Petition: Stop the CBC Budget Cuts

Stop the Harper Conservative CBC Budget Cuts! - Liberal.ca

As our Conservative government prepares to leave office they are starting to get rid of important departments and agencies.

One crown corporation they want to get rid of is The CBC our public broadcaster. CBC is the only broadcaster that protects our Canadian identity. The rest of the private Canadian broadcasters are American clones.

Our government spent an embarrassingly small amount of money on the 50th anniversary of our flag and had no special ceremony on Parliament Hill.

If you want to show your Canadian patriotism then consider deeply and sign the petition to save the CBC.
Here is the answer WHY Harper wants to get rid of the CBC... they are anti-Semitic and called the JDL a terrorist group!! That is not allowed in Canada!!!

CBC Exposed: The CBC said the Jewish Defence League (JDL) is a terrorist group ...

Yea, that's exactly what I said.

The budget should match the ability for them to continue providing critical journalism.

If that is compromised because of cuts, then we need to make sure that budget is met.

And that's where you neocons should start instead of just regurgitating respec for da taxpayer fallacy.

And who judges critical journalism?

And lets not forget that we are funding more than just journalism. We are funning countless dramas and 'comedies' which nobody watches because they are crap. And we are doing it in English and French. Yes. The CBC is wasting tonnes of taxpayer dollars on a French TV station in Regina, SK. Why? So the 3 people who speak French there can watch TV in French (they also speak English but that is beside the point).

So lets dispense with the French TV and radio networks west of Quebec. Lets drop the non-news shows on the radio. Lets drop the comedy's and dramas (you can keep Mercer, 22 minutes, Marketplace and the 5th Estate on as news shows) and have 1 network covering news 24/7. This means you can also drop CBC Newsworld. I suspect the budget would be about 1/3 the current.

No it's not. If enough Canadian think the service is worth having then it can survive with donations. The only reason I can see you having a problem with this is either

A - you really don't believe enough Canadians value the CBC or,

B - you're selfish and want everybody to help pay for your entertainment choices. Since you expect me to help pay for your CBC watching, are you going to help pay for my golf membership?

This is the same guy who incessantly whines about any crumbs thrown to seniors. :) :) :) :)

Stop being so silly. Pointing out your selfishness is not the same as whining about it. It's just stating a fact...much like water is wet, the sky is blue, Justin has nice hair or Harper hates freedom.
