Most mentally ill people are not stupid, actually I'd hazard a guess that mentally ill people on average have above average intelligence! :smile:

A friend worked Building 7 at North Bay psych. He told me the outside yard is completely closed - just in case one of them actually does figure out how to fly. A lot of them are really intelligent. It all just comes out garbled.

I have a wife that is mentally ill. Early onset dementia, thyroid issues, the list goes on. It's been a merry-go round for 2 years trying to get her the help she needs. Everybody passes the buck. Two nights ago she grabbed he mother by the throat. Is that her fault?

An old boss of mine was doing survey work at Essondale (the local loony bin 40 years ago) located right beside the Fraser River and he was studying aerial photos of the area when one of the "residents" walked up and asked him what he was doing and he explained that he was doing some photo interpretation for the survey from a local photo. "Resident says "oh yes I see, this building is a dorm and that is the Fraser River" as he lean over and runs his finger along the river.......................................and then adds "funny but it's not even wet". Ooops I'm off track, back to the pedophiles!

The doctors don't hold her responsible but then again, they don't think everybody that molests a child is a pedophile or that all pedophiles molest children. They also understand the limitations of the health system.

I have to agree in that "there is an exception to every rule", although I'd guess the former is pretty rare and the latter know it's wrong and are strong enough to avoid/resist the urge! :smile:

I'll grant you that not everyone that molests a child is a pedophile. Some are mentally disabled and unable to function appropriately in society and don't understand what they're doing. I've seen a kid suffer the fate of growing into a man's body with a child's mind. He'll spend the rest of his life behind bars on a cocktail of chemical castration drugs. This guy however was a fully funcitoning member of society. There is zero in this case to indicate anything other than him being a pedophile, ahead of a trial.

The story does not say but the fact that they are children may be irrelevant to this individual. They were simply an easy target. Perhaps, if he worked in a seniors home, he would be playing the tasting game with grandma.
