... The Dipper brain-trust increasing personal and corp taxes at at time when the bottom had already been out for a year wasn't exactly a smart move.

As was mentioned, the boom-bust cycles have been around numerous times, but the abject stupidity of the provincial gvt was a first this time

Yes, that along with scaring the crap out of everyone with royalties and Bill 6 did not help the provinces health any.

That's a really good point.

Threatening to alter the royalties had a direct impact on investment dollars coming in as well as capex programs of the majors being reconsidered.

Unintended consequences to be sure, but the bottom line is that the NDP gvt should have known better

All Notley has to do is keep following Wall's lead.

Why didn't the housing market collapse when 40,000 TFWs were sent packing from AB months before the economic war started?

This province has survived the 'boom-bust' cycle before and it could easily do it again if the NDP weren't hellbent on kicking the industry while it's down. The best indicator is that while our economy is tanking our neighbors in the next province (Sask) are booming. It's not like they can sell their resources for more it is simply govt policy being set in a way to allow prosperity instead of chase businesses (that means employers and jobs for you NDP types) and investment to other places. Reality is the only rabid thing going on here is the NDP trying to dismantle our economy and the top industries as fast as possible while making all their buddies rich through outrageous consulting fees and lucrative govt jobs that this province hasn't needed or had in the last 100 years.

On a personal level if I met Notley it would be very difficult for me to restrain the urge to punch her in the mouth then kick her hard in the c*nt while she's down. The clueless waste of sperm seems to think that winning an election due to anger with the opposition's leader is NOT a mandate from the masses to turn Alberta into a debt-ridden NDP cesspool of outrageous taxation to pay for govt employees and unions.

Hate to say I told you so....

...but if you're going to waste energy pointing fingers instead of anticipating fact, the point was wasted anyhow....

Yes, I can see you being that much of a brain dead moron.

Nothing like threatening to do bodily harm to someone to make one feel all tough and superior.

I'm curious, do you also get these same violent feelings towards other women?

Ssshhh he , might swear or call you a bad name for having an opinion .

having an intelligent opinion, is no problem. Threatening bodily harm to another person, just shows how ignorant one is.

Sometimes G you come across a person where bodily harm is warranted. You're one example, Notley is another.

ROFLMAO.... Oh I am sure for the mentally challenged, that would be all they would be able to come up with.

As for Notley, she is doing what she was elected to do. Threatening to "beat her up" shows how "juvenile" you truly are. Kind of like, "I'm gonna take my ball and go home". You want to make sure she doesn't get in again, then get your lazy azz of the couch and start working for the WR or the PC's.

I'll tell you this, though. The WR wouldn't be any better than the NDP.

I'm a card-carrying Libertarian and I do work on their campaigns both provincially and federally.

I have little doubt the NDP won't see a second term in power. I just hope there is something left for the next govt to govern.

As much as I would enjoy kicking Notley in the c*nt and as much as she deserves it I wouldnt, but it is nice to think about.

I don't think she is doing what she was elected to do. She was elected to represent all the citizens of Alberta. That means doing what the people want yet every day almost she is trying to pass legislation and policy against the wishes of the majority of the electorate. What she is doing is no better than any dictator. She puts her personal views and the desires of her union supporters ahead of the wants/needs of the majority.

See, it's comments like this that make you, and others, look like complete morons. What do you think is going to happen, the entire populace leave the province?

Sure thing G. I'm a moron because I can see our major industries taking hits that may take decades to recover from if they can recover at all. Will all the people leave? Of course not. Will a lot leave? Hell yeah. Look at Nfld or the other maritime provinces over the last decade. Mass exodus of the workforce and economies in perpetual freefall with the major primary industries all but wiped out.

You really don't have much faith in Albertans or Alberta, do ya. No problem. Then why don't you be one of the first to leave. Like a rat from a sinking ship.

Can't be one of the first....thousands have already left for BC and Sask.

It not a lack of faith. I have faith the citizens will try to make it work and rally back. I also have faith the NDP will ruin this province financially to the point there is no possible recovery.

I guess you must have been asleep during the 41 years of PC rule.
