If I was Patrick Brown, and innocent, I'd be chomping at the bit to get into court. To me, if this was a setup, my suspicions would be with the PCs, not the Liberals.

We live in interesting times.

OTTAWA -- Conservative MPP Lisa MacLeod has offered further explanation of whom she informed about rumours of "inappropriate touching" involving MPP Patrick Brown, saying she alerted Dimitri Soudas, Tory insider and self-described PC campaign volunteer.

"It wasn’t the senior management and no one in caucus," MacLeod told reporters Friday afternoon.

She classified what she passed along as unspecific rumours of "inappropriate touching, or multiple girlfriends." She said the rumours did not surprise her.

MacLeod said she had informed members of the campaign team about concerns with Brown's alleged behaviour "two or three times," last year, and was told the rumours of "issues about women," were unfounded. "There were lots of things that were percolating that a lot of people heard," the Nepean-Carleton MPP told reporters on her way into the PC caucus meeting at Queen’s Park on Friday morning.

Patrick Brown victim of a political hit:

TORONTO - The sister of Ontario's former Opposition leader, who stepped down amid allegations of sexual misconduct, says her brother was the victim of a "political hit."

Stephanie Brown says in a Facebook post that the allegations that led her brother Patrick Brown to resign are "completely false."

She describes Brown as a kind man who works tirelessly for others and says he did not deserve what happened to him this week.
Brown stepped down as Ontario Progressive Conservative leader early Thursday after emphatically denying what he called "troubling allegations" about his conduct and his character.
The allegations were brought by two women who spoke to CTV News and have not been independently verified by The Canadian Press.
Lisa MacLeod, a Progressive Conservative legislator, said Friday she flagged rumours about Brown to his campaign team weeks before he stepped down, though she would not specify who she spoke to.
MacLeod said she passed along information about Brown "two or three times" as recently as December.
"There's been a lot of speculation and people have heard a lot of different things throughout a period of time. So, there were lots of things that were percolating that a lot of people heard," she said.
MacLeod said she was told the allegations were unfounded.
She would not elaborate on the nature of the allegations but said they were "similar" to those brought forward this week.
The party could not immediately be reached for comment Friday.
Several key members of Brown's staff resigned as the allegations against him surfaced, saying they did not approve of how he handled the situation. MacLeod said in a tweet those who resigned were not the people she had spoken to about Brown.
The Progressive Conservative caucus is meeting to select an interim leader and determine whether Brown will be allowed to remain in caucus.

Patrick Brown Resigns - PC Leadership Race Declared

Patrick Brown victim of a political hit:

What I take away from the events of the last couple of days would be a need to investigate the stories of the two women and the timing of allegations.

From the political perspective, the only matter of consequence is why the accusations came when they did. Why did they decide to accuse Brown now? Were they encouraged to step forward? If so, by whom? Was it a Liberal or a PC hit?

It's far too early to know much, but I am sure the police and private agencies are investigating. We'll have to wait for more details.
---

The PCs have decided to hold a leadership race. That was quick. I wonder if this is in their best interests? The only reason I can think of is to have a leader in place who will step into the Premier's job, later this year.

They will be emptying the PC coffers quickly. The race will be a thrifty affair, I believe. Big money is needed for the official campaign kickoff.

Ontario PC Party plans to hold leadership race before spring election

The Ontario Progressive Conservative Party hopes to wrap up a leadership race by the end of March, before the province’s fixed spring election date.

Nipissing MPP and finance critic Vic Fedeli was selected as interim leader in a unanimous vote around noon on Friday, following the resignation of Patrick Brown early Thursday.

Hours later, Fedeli announced that the party’s executive had decided to launch a snap leadership race. “I fully expect to be the leader of the PCs through the election,” he added.

“I think it’s going to shine a light on the PC party in Ontario in a great way over the course of the next couple months,” Fedeli said of the leadership contest.

Brown asked to take a leave

In one of his first acts as interim leader, Fedeli said Friday afternoon that he had asked Brown to take a “leave of absence” from caucus.

"We take all accusations seriously " - Fedeli said

He also said that MacLeod told him that the rumours came from former NHL player Eric Lindros.

In a further tweet, MacLeod said Lindros never spoke to her about specific allegations against Brown.

"Eric Lindros’s brain is different. It knows better. It worries. Not about itself, so much—after a 15-year NHL career that was slowed and finally stopped by concussions"

Yeah, good point.

Right now here in Midland his office is closed, and all the issues we send the homeless to his office to get stuff done, is on standstill, and that is a real effe up for them, and us.

His staff ( women ) were really good at their jobs, actually, the best I have seen so far.
They were the reason I would have voted for the guy.

here is an interesting story about the people who are level two sex abusers - those who knew and in many cases did something to prevent Walter's due process from occurring.

this is the sort of thing that really needs to happen in order to eliminate this crime. People must be well aware that sex abuse enablers get penalized. Sine the the concepts of basic right and wrong are seemingly beyond them, self interest must be firmly established.

Your idol soros has done more harm to women and children by crashing economies then any one. Not to mention his work as a train conductor for Hitler. Not to mention Clintons, and the wieners, and wienerstiens, and Oprahs.

So please quit with the hypocrisy, that's the biggest MORAL crime of all.
So SAD that it's to be expected though from people such as yourself.

In another thread, I suggested that was this done to keep Patrick Brown from becoming premier. Frankly, I doubt he would have done a good job. I have no proof, but I wonder if this accusation was launched by members of his own party to oust him as leader.

More to come.

You lied. You defamed me': Patrick Brown blasts CTV News after sexual misconduct accuser changes timeline
One of Brown's accusers now says she was wasn't underage at time of alleged sexual misconduct
By Amara McLaughlin, CBC News Posted: Feb 14, 2018 2:45 PM ET

Patrick Brown is blasting CTV News saying, "You lied. You defamed me," in a Facebook post on Wednesday after the broadcaster reported one of the women who accused him of sexual misconduct wasn't under the legal drinking age at the time or in high school at the time of the alleged incident.

Brown stepped down as leader of Ontario's Progressive Conservatives on Jan. 25, a day after he was accused of sexual misconduct by two women with the allegations dating back to when he was a federal MP. CTV News first reported the accusations in a report that did not name the two women who alleged the incidents occurred in his home in Barrie, Ont.

Since then, Brown has vowed to disprove the allegations.

CTV News published a story late Tuesday that changed the timeline of the alleged events. One of his accusers now says she was of legal drinking age and not in high school when Brown allegedly asked her to perform oral sex.

"CTV News fabricated a malicious and false report about me from two anonymous accusers," Brown wrote. "The significance of this changed story is monumental."

CBC News has not independently verified the complainant's new versions of the alleged incident.

The unnamed woman, however, told CBC News in a statement through her lawyer, David Butt, on Wednesday: "I stand firmly by the truth of what I said about Patrick Brown's conduct involving me."

Why is he not blaming the party that acted on the information?

Patrick Brown's problem was that he was a bachelor. If you're going to run for the top job, you better have the smiling wife behind you with the white picket fence teeth, and two adorable children.
