You have not realized the gravity of the situation. Christians are a minority group in a multicultural secular country like Canada....

Minister said he 'might get remarried' hours after wife's death

TORONTO - Baptist minister Philip Grandine stunned his marriage counsellor by revealing only hours after his pregnant wife died that he “might get remarried,” a jury heard Tuesday.

Pastor Steve Hadfield told court he picked up Grandine at a Scarborough police station after the man said he discovered the lifeless body of his wife, Anne Karissa Grandine, in a bathtub at their Marsh Rd. home on Oct. 17, 2011.

Hadfield queried Grandine about whether the widower would choose a double plot at a cemetery.

“Well, I’ve never really thought about that. I might get re-married,” Hadfield quoted Grandine as saying.

Grandine, 28, has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the death of his wife, 29, who was 20 weeks pregnant at the time.

Hadfield testified he was providing marriage counselling to the couple for several weeks after the husband revealed his “physical and emotional” affair with parishoner Eileen Florentino that summer.

Hadfield said Grandine agreed to resign as the pastor at Ennerdale Baptist Church because of the extramarital relationship. Grandine also promised his pastor-colleague that he would end the affair, court heard.

Hours after the woman’s death, the marriage counsellor suspected his friend had broken his promise about the tryst.

Hadfield asked Grandine, “Are you still in love with her (Florentino)?”

“My feelings have not changed,” Hadfield quoted Grandine as saying.

“There is whole deception going on and you need to start telling the truth,” Hadfield recalled telling Grandine.

Hadfield told court that he sternly added: “You’ve been in contact with Eileen this whole counselling process time and you need to start telling the truth.”

Hadfield recalled that Grandine replied: “My sister is here — I have to go.”

The prosecution has alleged that Grandine — who was also a nurse with access to the sedative lorazepam at his job — drugged and drowned his wife.

Hadfield said Grandine appeared to be “under the influence of something” because of his slurred speech, wobbly gait and drowsiness on the couple’s last counselling session four days before the woman’s death.

“I know it wasn’t alcohol. I couldn’t smell it on his breath,” said Hadfield, noting Grandine abstained from drinking alcohol.

Lorazepam can cause drowsiness, reduced muscle control and dizziness, court heard.

The trial resumes Wednesday.

You have not realized the gravity of the situation. Christians are a minority group in a multicultural secular country like Canada.

First of all, Christians are hardly a minority group in Canada. Christians represent 67% of the religions in Canada according to the numbers in Wikipedia, as for the official Stats Can Census, 7 out of every 10 Canadian identifies as either Catholic or Protestant, which would be your ever so important 70% by the way.

A pastor killing his wife and being unfaithful as well is something one would expect from Americans, where 70% of Americans are Christians and these indiscretions can be easily absorbed.
It is not something one would expect from Americans, maybe it's something you would expect as you seem highly critical, small minded and judgmental. And since when is murder an indiscretion? It isn't an indiscretion, it's a crime, a crime that transcends all nationalities and religious affiliations (or lack thereof).

But Canada is not as insulated from such hypocrisy and it adds to the national inferiority complex so pervasive among Canadians.
National inferiority complex, what a load of manure! Don't ascribe your own neurosis to the entirety of the nation please, seek counsel with a therapist instead.

Too bad Canada views jihadist unfavourably or applying a few verses of the Sharia law and a small public stoning at the pastors church might put this to rest and win many more Muslim converts and immigrants. Just saying.......
Oh yes, you're just saying.

And what a load of bull crap it is too.

He has also violated basic human decency.

Oh no, no. Didn't you read what he said? It's an "indiscretion".

The pastor was a baptist according to the Toronto Sun.

Baptists make up only 1.9% of the Denominal Christians. The Catholics would not be affected by the baptist pastors indiscretions, but the small baptist population would be devastated.
