Do you think man is new to earth as an alien species just now dealing with bears?

Man behaves as if it's dumb enough to be new to this planet.

“People can live with real bears. It’s the bears roaming the wilds of the human imagination that are impossible to get along with.” – Dave Smith in Backcountry Bear Basics

Have you ever lived outside of a city or town?

Lived? Nope. Been to and camped? Yep.

and we have bears in Surrey (where I run), coquitlam (where I hike), Burnaby(where I walk and run), Chiliwack (where I camp) Boston bar (where I camp) North Vancouver and Squamish (where I camp, backpack, and hike)

Most of them are.

well I wasn't about to tell him that. he'd never believe me anyways.

^--- this is a good point in general. Not directed at twila but I don't understand how a city dweller from southern Ontario has a better understanding of the animals I grew up with without ever coming into contact with them personally. Must be cause I'm a hillbilly and such

Now you have lived outside of a city or town as asked and you replied "nope" as above?

You said city girl. You said outside of a town. I grew up in the country. I didn't grow up in the forest. I lived in a town...in the country.

Sorry I didn't fall neatly into the hole you were attempting to dig for me. Maybe if you stop trying to cram people into the preconceived mental idea you have, you'll learn a little.

Is this going to be like you insisting you knew the "religion is a mental disorder" article was a spoof?

The "country"? Cloverdale?
Uh no. I was raised on Vancouver Island. If your looking to find fault, deception and need to feel morally superior through making up sh!t in your head well then have at it.
I'm not into head games.

The worst thing that happened to the animal population was the making ohf the movie "Bambi" where the mother was killed. It is a matter of natural selection, the strong survive. The weak don't. At times it is not being kind to the animals to let them live. If they will die on their own, let them go. Nothing is more cruel than to go to a zoo and see the animals pacing back and forth in their cages. What kind of life, or is it just an existence, do these animals have.

Bears have few concerns; those are food, sex (but only for a brief amount of time), kids (but only the mothers), and sleep (for a few months of the year).
If the stupider of the two species can't figure out that bears are bigger and vastly more powerful and just want to go about one of the aforementioned programs at any one time, then perhaps the Darwin Awards should apply.
Erm, BTW, natural selection isn't the survival of the fittest. Natural selection is more like survival of the most adaptable.

Anyways, when my Dad was with the Fish n Game club he used to take in orphans. I guess Parks Canuckville didn't consider that route.

Vernon, B.C.
so you expect the dumber of the animals to figure it out?

cocksuckers? don't think I want to hear any of your camping stories.

It's really weird the words they allow on the forum and yet ones like those referring to parts of the human anatomy are banned, yet the vernacular forms are accepted. No rhyme or reason!

If the "f" word is in a cartoon it flies.
