"People just love to make fun of her (just as they loved making fun of Bush)."

Only the idiots, SirJosephPorter, only the idiots.

Sorry YJ, but once somebody becomes the object of ridicule, their credibility is shot all to Hell. A politician may recover from a scandal (look at Clinton), but it is much more difficult to recover if one is an object of ridicule. Look at Dan Quayle. Once he got a reputation as a dumb blonde ( a male version, that is), he never recovered from that, his political career was finished.

I think the same is happening to Palin. No wonder she got only 7% votes in the straw poll by conservatives, the extreme right wingers (where she normally would be expected to sweep the board).

Being the mother of five is an object of ridicule.

Elected to Mayor is an object of ridicule.

Elected Governor of a state is object of ridicule.

Voted into the highest office, way above his capabilities and experience should be but is not an objct of ridicule.

Picking a perennial foot-in-the-mouth (whose son is a chicken) loser as his VP is not object to ridicule.

Traveling to 57 states is NOT object of ridicule.

Not being able to accomplish anything with overwhelming Majority in the House and (until recently) a veto-proof Senate is not object of ridicule.

Not being able to say NO to a racist preacher for twenty years is not an object of ridicule.

Referring to the loving grandmother who raised this ungrateful punk as a TYPICAL WHITE woman is not an object of ridicule.

You and like-minded liberals keep proving time and time again that you have absolutely no sense of humour. In your world it has been replaced by hatred, pettiness and stupidity.

Calling police actions "stupid" is not an object of ridicule.

I could go on, but what for.

It won't be long before you will find a very disgusting, non-nutritional diet: your own words.

Much as you may not like the fact, Palin is ridiculed by Democrats and even by some Republicans, by some conservatives.

Obama is not ridiculed by the Republicans, they hate him with a passion. There is a big difference. Hatred by one’s political opponents is nothing new, and can be overcome (again, look at Clinton). Ridicule by one's opponents and by some from one’s own party is much more difficult to overcome.

Again, I come back to the 7% vote she got among the conservatives, far below Ron Paul and Romney.

Remember the former California Governor who was declared by the same kind of hateful, liberal idiots as the ones of present day who are too blind to see the utter ridiculousness of the half-black punk, a "B actor" and an "amiable dunce"? Who won 49 of 50 states? The one who ended the Cold War? The one who was ridiculed every bit as much and as often as Sarah Palin.

Worth repeating: Only by envious, jealous, hateful idiots who are unable learn from the lessons of history.

Now why would I do that, countryboy? I am not a politician, I am not running for office. Why should I care what the other posters think?

You said, "...once somebody becomes the object of ridicule, their credibility is shot all to Hell."

I'm just thinking you would have more fun here if you had credibility.

I can't imagine, I take a certain amount of pride in my credibility and thought most people would- it's called self respect.

Isn’t this the same governor who started USA on the path to astronomical deficits? Isn’t this the same governor who made conservatism synonymous with borrow and spend? Isn’t this the same governor who went on a spending binge with borrowed money and put the country in the hock?

Any ridicule heaped upon him was well deserved. Besides, I don’t recall any Republicans or any conservatives ridiculing him. There are Republicans and conservatives who ridicule Joan of arc.

And that is a big difference, Joan of Arc is an object of bipartisan ridicule, Reagan wasn’t.

What makes you think that I am not having fun right now?

SirJP - What makes you say things like that?

I said "more fun", which implies that I knew you were already having fun. You have told me previously that you would no longer be here if you ceased to have fun, and I believed you.

OK, perhaps I did not phrase that quite right. What I meant to say was,

"What makes you think that I am not having sufficient fun right now?"

Of course not!

When Reagan cut taxes, (BTW, also when your idol, the philandering tomcat, JFK cut taxes) revenue soared. During Reagan's admnistration, it was the wasteful Democratic Congress who was unable to stop LBJ's Great Society spending spree.

And after what Obama has done with the debt and the deficit, don't EVER come here again and complain about Republican debt and deficit.

P.S. Name any Republican who ridicules one of the Saints of the Catholic Church, Joan of Arc.

It is only because of the rules of this Forum that I don't call you a blooming IDIOT!

!

So let me get this straight. Anything good that happened during Reagan presidency, the credit goes to Reagan. Anything bad that happened, the blame goes to the evil Democrats? Spoken like a true, loyal Republican supporter. I suppose you have never heard of Harry Truman’s slogan, ‘The buck stops here’. Presumably the Republican version of that would be ‘The buck stops here only if anything good happens, otherwise the buck stops with those evil democrats.”

So how about the huge deficits that Bush racked up with the Republican Congress? Was that also the fault of the Democrats? Somehow from the position of minority they dictated the majority Republican Congress and president Bush to rank up huge deficits?

When it comes to deficits, Republicans have zero credibility, ever since Reagan started USA on the path of huge deficits and astronomical debt.

As to your vaunted tax cuts, history has shown that almost every time Republicans cut taxes, whether Reagan or Bush the deficit soared. In Bush’s case it converted huge Clinton surpluses into astronomical deficits.

Even now, what is the Republican solution to clean up the gigantic mess they made of the economy? Why, cut taxes, of course. That would miraculously fix everything.

She does not generate hatred, she generates ridicule. People just love to make fun of her (just as they loved making fun of Bush).

Those who say Palin is hated by mean spirited libs conveniently ignore the fact that Obama has been subjected to a hundred times more hatred than anyone else. Hatred that comes from the far right. Of course, the deluded right never talks about that. ;)

I am not sure where you get your numbers from, but under Reagan revenue did not soar - the deficit did. Reaganomics worked so poorly that it left the US massively in debt - the origins in fact of the current US deficit, which was added to by another Republican (G.W. Bush) who followed Reagan's policies. A quick check of the figures shows the federal spending during the Reagan era increased every year, but that much of it was borrowed money.

As for Republicans ridiculing saints, I don't know of any - but famous supporters of the Republican Party such as Gerry Falwell, Oral Roberts, and Pat Robertson have definitely shown considerable intolerance toward other religions.

I can't imagine the Republican Party has sunk so low as to nominate Sarah.
Its actually quite funny, the enemies of America would laugh until they are
ill. She shouldn't be allowed near the White House, but then we are talking
about America here. These people do the strangest things when it come to
politics. The woman will resign and run for God within a years of becoming
President. The woman is a mental midget and the world knows it.

What makes you think that I am not having fun right now?

Nothing at all, really. I was just looking for ways that you might be able to have even more of it.

For example, if you could come up with more factual ways to discredit Sarah Palin (instead of the same old stuff), you might be able to expand your fun because I would have more comments on "new facts." I know it would be difficult to come up with anything substantial like that.

In fact, I think you might be getting to the point where you're beginning to see her true value - and that's why you're not coming up with anything new with which to criticize that wonderful woman. You're just repeating the old "Joan" and "acolyte" stuff because you think people expect that of you. But again, I think you're a secret admirer and have started to back pedal here. Am I right?
