The year before that, we raised a Labrodor Retriever pup for the Guide Dogs people just down the street from us ( the one that Rick Mercer showed on his show) They spend the first year as just plain dogs before they were trained, so there are hundreds of them out being mentored at any given time. Anyway, after having a high energy puppy around the house from a breed that is famous for chewing everything in sight ( chewed up part of my barbeque ...mmmm...tastes like chops!) the kittens were relatively quiet. The pup was trained up, graduated as a seeing eye dog and we hear from them frequently.

I would like to think that it is charitable to do these things but it is a hell of a lot of fun, really.
oh, that is awesome, they give so much... I can imagine it would be hard to give them back but they do such good work and I like the fact that they only work for seven years and then they get to be regular dogs...that's a nice way to do it.

Who's Crazy??

oh my a chinese pallas cat. Beautiful!

everything but the "oink" in a hot dog.

yep, that's what makes them taste sooooo good.

We took in a whole litter of five very feral and just barely weaned kittens on behalf of the local Humane society (momma cat was nowhere to be found and therefore likely demised).

Anyway, the house was a circus for several months but we socialized them beautifully and they were given back to the humane society one by one and were immediately adopted out, we kept one ... the runt. This is a very brave and adventuresome cat and, thinking that it was a boy, I knick-named him "Mighty Mouse" 'cause he took no guff. Upon discovering that he was actually a she, the name morphed into "Mini". We were aware that pure black cats are harder to find homes for because ... well, you know. This is really smart and affectionate cat who has already bagged two mice who had no business being where they were. It is very important that your cats be self-actualized. My Druid ancestors would heartily approve, too.

I have 2 formerly ferals that I tamed for our local shelter. They are wonderful pets.

Cats are vermin.

So are some humans.

I don't trust nor tolerate people who hate cats. It's proof that they have a superiority complex with high levels of narcissism. They're not to be trusted. I tend to refer to them as puppy kickers. People like that would kick a puppy if they thought it would benefit their ego.
