We took in a whole litter of five very feral and just barely weaned kittens on behalf of the local Humane society (momma cat was nowhere to be found and therefore likely demised).
Anyway, the house was a circus for several months but we socialized them beautifully and they were given back to the humane society one by one and were immediately adopted out, we kept one ... the runt. This is a very brave and adventuresome cat and, thinking that it was a boy, I knick-named him "Mighty Mouse" 'cause he took no guff. Upon discovering that he was actually a she, the name morphed into "Mini". We were aware that pure black cats are harder to find homes for because ... well, you know. This is really smart and affectionate cat who has already bagged two mice who had no business being where they were. It is very important that your cats be self-actualized. My Druid ancestors would heartily approve, too.
