Plus that overrated song "Imagine" where he asks us to imagine a world without heaven. What a horrible concept!
And "The Wall" was cool when I was 14 but it got old fast. I set my album out into the laundry room here at my apartment building. I think some elderly great grandmother took it for here enjoyment.
I dont much care for Imagine either. Probably just heard it too many times. He had much better songs in my opinion, both with the Beatles and solo. I prefer most of the other songs on the "Imagine" album. "Plastic Ono Band" would be my favourite album of his.
As for The Wall - I didnt get it til I was 22 and saw Roger Waters perform it. A mix of a rock show and theatre. Now I get it and consider it to be one of my favourites.
Only 'cause I heard another lousy 'song' of his on the radio just now...
Bruce Springsteen
Id put him in my top 10 best songwriters.
Hank Williams - Neil Young
Hank Williams didnt write many songs. At least not on his own. Most of the stuff he is best known for were written by others or co-written with one or more others. He was more of an interpreter and was pretty good at it. Neil Young - one of my favourites.
Anyone have any opinions on this one?
My picks would be:
Eric Clapton
Was Eric Clapton ever really considered a great songwriter? Ive heard him practically worshipped as a guitar player but thats very different from songwriter.
