I'm really sorry but I must be missing something here, doesn't your topic directly address the very real possibility of just such a catastrophe happening. I may be a bit dense, but to me that is a warning.

The thread was created after watching a show on Knowledge network with some experts discussing the probabillity. The post you quoed was in response to another post, and is intended to point out that the government isn't likely to go on the 6 oclock news and say the financial system will be collapsing by 9am tomorrow even if they knew it was the truth.

Worrying is absolutely useless- the way I see people spending money when I go down town, I doubt if many are too worried. What is the worst that can happen? We may all be in the same boat. Just hope Bill Gates is in mine.

You are absolutely right, JLM - worrying gets us nowhere fast. Between a possible financial meltdown and the potential of a carrington event - I might as well watch every single play-off game I can so I have something to remember when I am broke and in the dark. LOL!

No doubt - the media always beats them to the punch. Darn media.

will pay cash for your silver

To heck with gold and silver, I'll pay cash for your non-GMO seeds - they might be the new gold standard in the not too distant future.

You are right about non-GMO seeds. Most communities have heritage seed collection groups. Unfortunately, GMO pollen is floating through the air and will contaminate the heritage plants. Hard to escape the inevitable if you are in the path of prevailing winds and GMO crops are down wind. Monsanto is probably more of a threat than radio active fall out.

I might also add, if you don't mind Cliffy, that Monsanto and Cargill have been buying up private seed companies as fast as they can in order to deplete the market of non-GMO seeds.

I'll trade you for some Non-GMO, non-round up ready grains and pulse. For making pasta or bread? Rye? Flax? Lentils? Barley?

What do you have for silver?
