Funny, you live in a society that was solidly Christian until 50 years ago, or less.

You live in one of the most advanced, most tolerant democracies on earth.

Didn't work out so well? Whatever do you mean?

Oh, I should say, the Republican need to read the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States; "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion....."

BTW, speaking of idiot lawyers, this is how a legal site describes the above:

First Amendment

The First Amendment guarantees freedoms concerning religion, expression, assembly, and the right to petition. It forbids Congress from both promoting one religion over others and also restricting an individual’s religious practices. It guarantees freedom of expression by prohibiting Congress from restricting the press or the rights of individuals to speak freely. It also guarantees the right of citizens to assemble peaceably and to petition their government.

You see ANY of that in there?
Mann you must have just stepped off the Good Ship Lollipop. Freedom of religion in the US only referred to WASPs. Those good Christians tried to wipe out all indigenous peoples and/or their cultures, particularly their religions. Time to come down of your fundamentalist cloud and look around. You claim to know history but you seem to have developed a few blinds sots.

Reason in the title, it clearly has the word "IGNORE."

In short make the change, sorta like Obama with his Immigration Bill I guess.

Just a FYI, Great Britain has a "national" religion. In point of fact, the Queen is the "defender of the faith". I would think that if "Christianity" was "forced" on anyone because of it, then they wouldn't be having the Muslim "problem" that they seem to have.

I for one would agree with making Christianity a national religion in both Canada and the USA

Just say'in.

Which denomination - Scientology ? ;)

oh, by the way, at the time of its founding Pennsylvania's official religion is the Friends or Quakers - mebbe they should make that the official religion (?)

100 years from now Islam will be America's national religion.

Islam already is the UKs national religion. They are pushing you weaklings right into the channel.

One hundred years from now there won't be an America. It will be absorbed by Mexico. The Mexicans will kill off the fuzzy wuzzies in what was the US.

The Cartels and ISIS would have a head sawing contest.

Once the religion is established as the National religion it gives preference
What it says is the Republicans have become a social movement instead of
a political party. Social Conservative I oppose Fiscal Conservatives are a
respected part of society. When you allow a preferential group like this to
have government endorsed powers and that is what they are you invite a
hysteria wave like ISIS to emerge. Why because there is a vacuum of those
who oppose and the believers. The equation is the zealots take over

I doubt it will revert to burning witches... ;)

No?? just like fanatical Islamism doesn't cut off the heads of those who annoy them in the name of Islam. . Besides burning witches is old hat, it has already been used in the name of Christianity....I suppose fanatical Christians could try beheading as an alternative way of serving God. In my opinion, that is just a copycat solution and really doesn't gain any true converts to either religion. I see there is a lack of imagination here. Surely, there must be even more gruesome and unforgettable way Christians can use to please God!!

AAwkk what foolishness.

What about official languages?... That in itself carries a huge amount of culture along with it.

Let's not go into the basis of a nation's legal system..... Without question, they have roots in religion or spirituality, etc.

Ummmm.... Seen any news casts in the last few years?

Over half of Republicans want to ignore Bill of Rights, make Christianity national religion

America's Founding Fathers may have explicitly banned the formation of a national religion, but don’t tell that to Republican Christians. A poll found that over half of the religious right wants to establish Christianity as the country’s official creed.

Just say'in.

Wouldn't Christianity automatically be the National religion based on sheer numbers?
