Over 120 anti-Trump Republicans discussing forming new political party
Republican officials, who view the party as unwilling to stand up to former U.S. President Donald Trump and his attempts to undermine U.S. democracy, are in talks to form a center-right breakaway party.
The early stage discussions include former elected Republicans, former officials in the Republican administrations of Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush and Trump, ex-Republican ambassadors and Republican strategists, the people involved say.
More than 120 of them held a Zoom call last Friday to discuss the breakaway group, which would run on a platform of “principled conservatism,” including adherence to the Constitution and the rule of law — ideas those involved say have been trashed by Trump.

Why would they when they can only get elected as Republicans , the only way to rid the Rinos is by primary . It is not easy in most cases to primary the incumbent . The Democrats have the same problem in reverse but true none the less .Romney and their ike should just join the Democrat Party..
...and the Trump Republicans will take the White House, House and Senate in 2024
Trumps only problem is his age , although he is a workaholic and seems to run like a train four years is a long time at his age . He did and has caught the attention of the American voter like few before him .Do you think Trump will have enough support for that? I was surprised when Fox News turned their back on him, if you don’t have at least some part of ‘legitimate’ media on your side you’re pretty much hooped. He still has a lot of legal problems to deal with now that he doesn’t have the protection that the presidency gave him, and the CNNs and the MSNs will be chomping at the bit to drag him through the muck there. It was Trump himself that showed us what control of the media can do for you, and he has lost a lot of that with his antics since the election.
There’s no arguing with that. What impresses me is that despite his considerable collection of shortcomings his supporters will flatly refuse to give them a moment’s thought. He did and has caught the attention of the American voter like few before him.
I ain't sure 120 votes is gonna be enough to swing an election, except maybe for the Tuktoyuktuk City Counci
Because he lived up to his promises , not many politicians can say that .There’s no arguing with that. What impresses me is that despite his considerable collection of shortcomings his supporters will flatly refuse to give them a moment’s thought.
Nope he will reform the Rep. partyDo you think Trump will have enough support for that? Such as? The US economy was headed for the tank before the plague hit, and his complete bumbling of that crisis says it all. He was more concerned with his own image than the safety of Americans. Add to that all his nutball moves since the election and it sounds like pie in the sky to think he will ever regain his past popularity among anyone other than the furthest fringes of the far right.Because he lived up to his promises , not many politicians can say that .
Can I have a puff of what you're smoking? The economy under Trump simply carried on trends established under Obama, but did so by squandering pockets of strength they inherited. Business investment plummeted, labour rights were undermined, and his much-vaunted tax cuts went to the rich who didn’t need them and just banked the money anyways. The pandemic just accelerated what Trump had started.
