Any sensible person believes in climate change, what they don't believe in is that it is a new thing!

What is the sum total of popular belief? What is the virtue of religious popular belief?
They are intertwined you know.
Centuries ago everyone believed the earth was flat in fact if you didn't believe the
earth was flat you were ridiculed and at one point when the church was in charge you
might not die of old age in bed if you didn't believe.
There were a few who believed the world was round but they kept silent because the
Pope said the earth is flat and the sun revolves around the earth as God made it.
At some point, someone decided this might not be true, something the Vikings knew
long before the rest of Europe. .

Apparently, the Egyptians knew the world was round!

At some point, someone decided this might not be true, something the Vikings knew
long before the rest of Europe. Once proven the one or two percent became the
majority and everyone set sail to exploit the people they heard about and it wasn't
long before these Europeans were imposing their will on the new world. Of course
they killed anyone who didn't believe what they believed.

Now fast forward. The new religion is the environment. Anyone who does not believe
what the masses believe is ridiculed and considered a fool. Not because the world is
changing like it has for millions of years, but because the few won't submit to the guilt
being imposed by multi national corporations that want to sell you a new kind of light bulb.
a new car, a new air conditioner and the list goes on. The only thing Holy here is the
dollar and your blind obedience to the doctrine we all must obey, and do our part to ensure
the profits of the new clergy the Chairs of the Boards of the Multi Nationals.
Wait until people realize the climate is changing because of natural fluctuations in nature
and our cycle around the sun. The problem is they will be exploited just like the people of
the new world. And if it gets bad enough the leaders of the religion and the Chairs of the
Multi Nationals will use the money they took from you to buy a ticket to the new planet
leaving you to face the final days of earth, and by the way Jesus is not coming back any
time soon. That is your bedtime story for today.

Damngrumpy. There is a couple of things. One the multinationals have largely fitted into the two percent. Two nothing other than more profit can convince them to profit from the opportunities arising from the need to fight agw. People are different. They can change their minds. I think it is a mistake to give credit to the corporations for the sea change of public opinion.

What makes you think The world is changing like it has forever? It has been shown by science that the climate is changing and is going to change faster than it has in the evidence for any other period. So seriously, what makes you think that this change isn't any different?

Except the popular opinion back then was wrong and science proved it wrong. Even today, however, there are still people around who think the planet is flat.

The difference here between the flat Earth idea and the idea that humans have altered the natural progression of climate cycles is that the religious had NO fact-based evidence and science does.
Wait until people realize the climate is changing because of natural fluctuations in nature
and our cycle around the sun.
Prove that's all it is then.

So? Whatever story that religion or science comes up with, people will capitalize on it whether the story is based in reality or not.

Another thing is this god damned organic fruits and vegetables, just another scam to rip you off. A carrot is a carrot and organic or non organic vitamin A, B, C and D is exactly the same.

The vitamins may be doing the same, but the additives are probably doing their own thing apart from the vitamins. So suck down those veggies loaded with DDT, mercury, benzene compounds, et al. They're only known to cause a variety of oll health effects.

But what this has to do with climate change, I'll leave for you to explain.

Not a thing, just a response to DG's post saying how much bullsh*t in general is hoisted upon us. Because a vegetable isn't "organic" doesn't mean it has mercury in it and just because it is organic doesn't 100% preclude it from having mercury in it. If you grow your own organic vegetables that's one thing, but if you are buying them from Joe Blow out of the back of a pickup you have no real way of knowing anything about them.

More dodging. Neither of those points is any guarantee that organic is BS. You go ahead and risk your health eating your chemical-ridden foods on the basis of your opinion, I'll stick to stuff out of my backyard that I know has an extremely low content of chemicals and whatnot. I just don't want to risk what those chemicals might do simply on the basis of my stubborn opinion.

Unless the guvment regulates it but that would get in the way of FREEDOM!

NOW you are starting to make sense!

Several years ago there was a good article in Readers' Digest about the myths of organic food. The main point I can remember is organic foods are no more nutritional than unorganic but the main advantage is they taste better.

Several years ago we didn't know the planet wasn't roundish either.
It was probably right that they are not any more nutritional than inorganics. The thing with the pesticide (and other chemically) enhanced ones is the ADDITIVES. The additives cause a fairly big variety of health problems.

Anyway, this topic is climate change.

lmao You think growing veggies causes people to keep posting climate change threads?

No, other way around, these climate change fanatics that rant every time the temperature goes up a degree, may eventually put people off risking growing vegies for fear of blight or something.
