Most households in the UK will have pornography blocked by their internet provider unless they choose to receive it, David Cameron has announced.

In addition, the prime minister said possessing online pornography depicting rape would become illegal in England and Wales - in line with Scotland.

Mr Cameron warned in a speech that access to online pornography was "corroding childhood".
The new measures will apply to both existing and new customers.

Yet more daft measures.

From now on if I want to see porn online I'll have to contact my ISP. How embarrassing.

With this ruling - and the place which banned people from singing Happy Birthday - it looks as though those in charge in this country are continuing to endeavour to take away all fun things from people's lives.

It used to be you had to go see your local merchant for porn. Usually with a 'membership'. Or, you had to let your cable or satellite provider know you liked porn. So I really don't see how this is any different, except that it takes it out of the hands of the children.

If you're not grown up to admit you watch porn, you're not grown up enough for porn.

The last time I checked, many internet service providers have special child locks on to stop children accessing porn that the adults can turn on and off at will. There's no need for this nanny state censorship.

calling it censorship when you have access to it is a bit odd. Do you get equally frustrated over the 'censorship' of having to subscribe and pay for specific tv channels?

There is evidence that government workers including parliament are in fact constant heavy users of internet porn, Look for frustrated angry public servants to come from this issue.

Funny how governments think they can control internet usage in the name of being PC TO GET VOTES. SO FAR THEY CAN'T EVEN STOP KIDDY PORN.

Kids are learning about sex from porn. A disconnect in identifying the difference of love and lust in sex.
Wait. . . there's a difference?

Oh, for krysakes, read the whole article, blacklaff.
"In his speech, Mr Cameron said family-friendly filters would be automatically selected for all new customers by the end of the year - although they could choose to switch them off." You not computer literate enough to find the settings in your browsers and switch the family filter default off?
It reads to me like the same as we have here except we choose to turn the family filters on by default.

First of all there has to be some way to keep porn out of the hands of children.
Second, the governments who are more conservative or a social conservative
vent are trying to take society back to Victorian times and it won't work.
Third there are millions of kids out there that know more about sex disconnect
or not, than their parents.
These are measures that are simple for government to enact and they don't
really care who pays and who does not it must look good and provide a simple
solution to show voters they are doing something.
