Canadians see what is going on in the USA, they sure don't want baby-Biden anymore.. Trudeau, Brown, whatever
If O'Toole couldn't win the last election, what makes you think Brown or some other Ontario Conservative has a chance.. they don't.
Besides, what is the best way to change a persons vote.. fuck with their pocketbook. Higher gas, higher food costs, higher interest rates.. Trudeau is fucked.
That's the point. O'Toole understood that taking the party closer to center was what they had to do to attract voters from further left. Poilievre wants to take the party further to the right. Given what went on in the US during Trump's presidency, and what we've seen anti-vaxxers and the Freedom convoy, the far right doesn't have a great reputation right now. People will just hold their collective noses and vote Liberal. And I can see some Liberals defecting to the NDP as well, both of the main parties are looking the same with their choice to engage in squabbling over governing.
I will vote for mini-Trump before I vote for mini-Biden - higer gas prices, food prices.. people will see that and I belive Canadians will go Canada First in an ever shrinking global climate..
If not.. then Canada is fucked and I would leave Canada for good.. it'll be 3rd world in 5 years under Trudeau

I would suggest that Americans would happily return to the Trump days . I would also suggest the trucker convoy crossed party lines . But to your point of taking the party left , does nothing for those away from vote rich urban settings , and tend to be aimed at disillusioned liberals . If the conservatives cater to eastern liberals they disenfranchise their rural base .

I believe the challenge for Canada would be to find the political will to act, & then to convince investors that they won’t get the rug yanked out from under them again or be tied up in red tape forever to accomplish less than nothing.
The elephant in the room here is the thought that we should be scaling back the production of fossil fuels for energy, not ramping up. I'd like to know where the push to breathe life back into things like Energy Easy and Keystone XL is really coming from.

We require energy to survive in the frozen north . Until such time that we have alternative energy sources we will need carbon based power . Solar and wind are not efficient to power our countries needs .
