Lol

So the current state of affairs is a legitimate enough reason to issue executive orders?

I am not sure if I would agree with that. I think now that the Reps have a solid majority, they should be able to use that as they were democratically elected to do so. Obama shouldn't be able to overrule that freedom unless (as Das said) it can be qualified as an emergency.

I think Obama should be scrutinized to that extent and if he can come up with a convincing argument, then at least we have some justification.

Even then, it still seems a little fishy that we let a guy at the top disregard a democratic institution, doesn't it?
Um. . . the guy at the top is a democratic institution. Contrary to what you seem to believe, the President gets elected, just like the Congress. And the authority to issue executive orders is limited, and anyone who perceives an executive order as being outside the bounds of the President's authority is free to sue. They often win.

See, we tried that whole "government by committee" thing for eleven years under the Articles of Confederation, 1776-1787. Didn't work. Turns out that, in the words of the immortal Heinlein, a committee is the only form of life with three or more bellies and no brain.

But when you build by committee you can guarantee that no one will be happy.

People who do it legally. Strange huh?

Update, US immigration system is broken.

People get married and it takes years to get to see an immigration officer, so the spouse stays in the USA illegally.

H2 Visa's are not easy to get as one thinks, you need to prove to have money, so migrant works come to the USA illegally, because they are broke and need work.

So what happens when the US government interferes with this delicate balance. Farmers lose billions of dollars from Georgia to Yakima, WA.

Or you can think of it the way FoxNews wants everyone to think... the Mexicans are taking the southern states back. La Raza!! La Raza!! Chicken Little!!!

That's actually a worthwhile goal. Eisenhower called it the "equality of dissatisfaction." The notion is that if everybody's about equally pissed off, you probably did the right thing.

Which is precisely the same as any other president ever, why does it have to be such a horrible thing that Obama may do the same?

Well so much for Hope and Change.

I think you are still missing the point: if the Republicans can come up with a good bill for immigration, then he'll be good with it. If they don't, then it'll not go through. This puts the focus on the Republicans to actually try and so something FAIR for people, and not just this fear mongering BS a lot of them have been doing lately. I personally hope they DO come up with a good bill that is fair.

Granting amnesty to tens of millions of illegal aliens is not a good bill. That is, at this time what he is threatening. I am guessing that any bill that does not grant amnesty will be vetoed by him.

No, but I also don't see Canada leaving a humanitarian crisis on its border like the US has right now. If there was, I can't see the people standing for it and we'd force the Government to act somehow.

Be thankful that your southern border is Washington, Montana, Maine, etc. Canada went bat sh*t when one ship of Tamils came ashore and one was on the way. Try a whole fleet of Tamils heading to the west coast of Canada and see how welcoming you would be. The humanitarian crisis as you put it was caused by this administration and their promises/rumors of amnesty. Just get across the border and the Americans will take care of you was what made them make the hazardous trip.

This is where I disagree with you. The President has every right to veto a bill.

Oh I did not know there was 100% Employment in Georgia these days!

Mexicans... that is kind of funny when the fact of the matter there are more than Mexicans crossing the border.

But hey... who knows maybe we can be a New Central America! Things are so awesome down there.

Rolling Stone Named President Obama One Of America’s Most Historically Successful Presidents

Writer Paul Krugman beautiful breaks down why all the Obama-bashing is ill-suited and “misguided”. Critics from all angles tear apart the Obama administration but in the Rolling Stone article, Krugman wants to come to the defense of Barack Obama, even crowning him as one of our most successful presidents. In the article, Krugman breaks down Obama’s presidency into six parts: financial reform, health care, social, economical and environmental changes and national security.

Here’s an excerpt from the article written by Paul Krugman:
Obama faces trash talk left, right and center – literally – and doesn’t deserve it. Despite bitter opposition, despite having come close to self-inflicted disaster, Obama has emerged as one of the most consequential and, yes, successful presidents in American history. His health reform is imperfect but still a huge step forward – and it’s working better than anyone expected. Financial reform fell far short of what should have happened, but it’s much more effective than you’d think. Economic management has been half-crippled by Republican obstruction, but has nonetheless been much better than in other advanced countries. And environmental policy is starting to look like it could be a major legacy.
