So you're telling me when the Canadian anthem is playing you don't stand at attention ??

Never. WE stand, yes but not at attention. It is not the army or some robot response like in the US.

This is funny. So standing is OK... but having ones hand over his or her heart is WAY OVER THE TOP.

Uh huh...

He said we don't HAVE to. Sometimes we simply choose to. Big difference.

It's an affectation, I don't find it odd, the only thing I find a bit weird about it is the implied attempt to socially enforce it.

Our military has to stand at attention but nobody else has to.

Heck I see Americans still leaving their hats on during the national anthem.

And I sure as heck don't sing it out loud.

We don't HAVE to either.

Implied by who?

Go to an event in the US. All will stand... some will put their hands on their hearts... big whoop!

Yes Eaglesmack standing is ok its a form of respect and I have no problem with that
This testament to hand over the heart and the big patriot finally to me is over the top.
We have two different views I suppose and to be clear I see some Canadians do it too.
Can't be bothered myself I just think its is silly.
And no, no flags draped over my door or anything like that. Yup I will cheer for Canada
if I'm watching. The Olympic thing is a giant waste of money in my view but I watch the
hockey and that's about it. Summer games don't watch them.

Back when the CFL had US teams. I remember watching the Riders play Las Vegas Posse and this guy botched the Canadian anthem so bad it made the news North America wide. The Riders invited him to Regina to try again and he did a great job singing Oh Canada the second time around.

So that one additional display is over the top? Good grief.

Canadians are bigger flag wavers than the Americans as far as I can see. I can post tons of these pics.

. You're being a hypocrite if you ask me.

Here is one I took to ad to your collection.

We even have a nasty habit of provincial flag waving too.

Great flag!

Do they get a hard time for being too patriotic?

I think someone is looking for attention don't you?
Thanks. The green on top represents the boreal and the gold the fields of grain in the south.

Nobody has issues with singing the anthem in Regina
