Wiener should have stayed. He was pretty much the only member of congress willing to call out both sides on their failings in between sexts.

The Obama administration just keeps failing at everything they do.

The Obama administration committed more than $500 million in taxpayer money to a maker of solar power panels despite repeated red flags about the company’s viability, NBC News’ Lisa Myers reported Wednesday.
The FBI raided the Silicon Valley headquarters of the company, Solyndra, last week, investigating whether the government was misled when it loaned the company $535 million in taxpayer funds. Solyndra officials say they are cooperating with the investigation.
Solyndra received the loan guarantees in 2009 as part of President Barack Obama’s promise to create millions of so-called "green" jobs. But last month, Solyndra declared bankruptcy, laying off all 1,100 workers.

The most effective candidate the Republicans could run against Obama in the next election would be Rudolph Giuliani.

Although, I have not heard a peep about his intention to run. The rest of the potential candidates, from Sarah Palin to Mitt Romney don't stand a chance.

As long as the American economy is in the dumper they will likely bounce between Republicans and Democrats.

Of course neither of them knows how to balance a chequebook which is the primary problem. The Republicans talk the talk but Bush II was not exactly a spendthrift.

The hijacking of the Republican Party from the Bible Belt and Social Conservatives will make it difficult for any Republican to run against a Democrat that is anywhere close to centre or centre-left. Someone centre-right like Giuliani would be a good choice but you are correct, the Bible Thumpers won't support him.

How depressing.

It was their's (Democrats) to lose. After thumping the GOP in 2006 and 2008 the Democrats managed to screw everything up even worse.

Of course neither of them knows how to balance a chequebook which is the primary problem. The Republicans talk the talk but Bush II was not exactly a spendthrift.

Right, neither Bush or the GOP were spendthrifts, and the GOP got sent packing leaving the Democrats in control of Congress and the White House. They spent even more. Now Obama wants another stimulus package! Is he insane? We already saw what happened with Solyndra. Half a billion dollars lost.
