Most of us are happy with what we have, it is just the 46 million who have little or nothing who want this. Much cheaper to just give them insurance than revamp the whole medical plan. This is just another case of the minority telling the majority what is best for everyone. The U.S. cannot afford for this plan to cost us any more money, As some say, we are close to being broke.

The old existing system is getting you broke and no more healthier.

That is quite a valid question, Walter. Republicans controlled the Congress for 12 years, out of that they also controlled the presidency for six years. Why didn’t they try to pass their so called health care plan at that time? During the period 2000 to 2006, they could have passed pretty much anything they wanted.

Because the GOP does not want a government run health plan!

You took the words (or rather, the word) right out of my mouth. These days India is the preferred destination to get good quality, inexpensive health care. Some Canadians already go there. And not only Canadians, but Europeans, rich people form Middle Eastern countries also visit India, it is quite a cash cow for India these days.

Many people in India are dirt poor, they don’t have access to any health care (nor could they afford to pay for it, even if they did have the access). But at the other end, they have very good quality health care, for those who can afford to pay for it. And by European or North American standards, it is quite cheap.

There are many websites about medical tourism.

Medical tourism India, Medical surgery treatments clinics Abroad, Health care procedure hospital Overseas

Medical Services is a great demand field and Cuba is also after such market with it's extremely qualified doctors and medical staff. I would go to Cuba before I would go to India due to costs and what I have heard about the system..

Cuba Travel - Cuba Health Services

There is another country that making waves about Medical Services but there I would not go.. It is Brazil.. There market is more based on plastic surgery but as much as ther have been good there have been a lot of bad results as well..

Does Brazil offer advanced medical services like the us? - Yahoo! Answers

I seen a documentary on Medical Services provided in Brazil, Cuba and India.. I would choose Cuba any day..

Yes... the 60th Senator was successfully bribed. Nebraska has just got a big Medicare payoff added to the bill that everyone else will have to pick up the tab for the vote.

Bribery is still the fastest way to a Senator's heart.

Isn't that how Congress and Senate work all the time.. Each Member has to be bought ?

I mean by special interest groups of course..:lol:

Please don't tell me this is exclusive to Democrats..

Exactly, so GOP does not have any plan for health care reform. So then the post by Walter, where Mark Levin claims that GOP has a plan to reform health care is outright lie, according to you? Good to know that.

Republicans do not want to reform health care, they like the current system just fine, dominated by insurance companies and drug companies (who are major donors to the Republicans). Then why not just say so, why the opportunistic claim that there is a Republican health care reform plan? There isn’t one, the only health care reform plan is to keep the health care the way it is, hugely expensive and inaccessible (at least to those who cannot afford to pay for it).

But you Republicans really should get your story straight. Mark Levin says he has the plan for health care reform, which magically is going to cure all the ills of the US system, and you claim there is no plan (presumably in your opinion US health care is fine the way it is).

Get your story straight.

And your point is? Are you claiming that Republicans never bribed anybody when they were in power (but being practically a card carrying Republican, I assume you would claim that).

Politics is not a pretty business; somebody compared passing a bill to making sausage. You don’t want to know how it is done, it is not pretty.

The fact is that your party (and your donors, insurance and drug companies) is about to lose a big one. Ever since the health care debate started, Republicans have issued boos and catcalls from the side line, without making any useful suggestions, their only suggestion (rather, demand) being that health care reform be shelved and insurance and drug companies be given a free rein.

Republican accusing Democrats of bribery is pot calling the kettle black. Remember the ‘Hammer’, Tom Delay? He used all kinds of tactics to get Republicans in line, including bribery, intimidation and threats.

Perhaps you would, Francis. But Americans cannot go to Cuba.

Because the GOP does not want a government run health plan! Man are you that dumb?

Better question would be why didn't they reform health care when they had the chance?

What the dems are proposing isn't goverment run, they are offering insurance and making it mandatory to have insurance, thus bringing down the cost.

Just curious, since you work for the military (correct me if I am wrong) what sort of coverage do you get?

Americans couldn't fly "directly" to Cuba from the USA at one point....but were
very welcome once they arrived in Cuba. I met several Americans there myself.

I'm not sure if that travel restriction has been lifted or not, but I think it either
has been....or it's in the works...

Answer is simple Avro; Republicans don’t want any health care reform. They shot down Clinton’s attempts to reform health care. Then when they were in power for12 years, they did absolutely nothing; they had to do the bidding of their paymasters (insurance companies and drug companies).

Indeed, when the current bill was voted upon in the senate committee, CNN looked at the donations by drug and insurance companies. They found that the senators who voted against the proposal, had got much more in campaign contributions by these companies than Senators who voted for the proposal.

They were able to shoot down Clinton’s proposal, but Obama is proving to be a much tougher nut to crack (it is indeed surprising how people constantly underestimate Obama).

Attacking a point of view is one thing. Attacking a Member with a personal
attack for their point of view is something completely different, & is unneeded,
unwanted, and against the rules of the Forum, which can be found at the bottom
of every page on the forum in a link titled "Terms of Service."

If your post has been removed or edited, this would be why. If you've quoted this
happening, your post would also have been removed or edited.

Have you seen the amount Hillary gets from the health care biz in the US?

They are all politicians Avro, I assume they all get money from drug and insurance companies. Indeed, drug and insurance companies would be crazy not to hedge their bets by donating to both parties. But Republican Party is their natural home. When CNN looked at the contributions to Republicans and Democrats in the Senate committee which voted on health care reform, they found that Republicans get much more in contribution than democrats.

So yes, they all take bribes, they all get money from special interest groups. But Republican and Democratic special interest groups are different, and drug and insurance companies are the special interest groups of Republican Party.

Why do you suppose Hillarys position on health care reform is way different than it was when she was first lady and way different than Obama's?

The problem isn't Republicans and democrats it's the way the system of lobbying works for the lobbyists and not the people who the government is suppose to represent.

Nope, we are still breaking the law if we (average American) visits Cuba. They have eased up a little for people who have relatives living there though. Down here the Cuban Americans usually fly there thru the Bahamas.

SJP: The doctor shortage is definatly artificially created in the U.S. and Canada. I do not remember reading how anyone was going confront the AMA or CMA about allowing more doctors. We are being flooded with nurse practitioners, but in most cases they are not as qualified as doctors. I personally do not want to have a doctor I have to use a translator to work with to.
