Obama lifts freeze on $192 million aid package to Palestinian Authority

US President Barack Obama has lifted a ban on financial aid to the Palestinian Authority.
Obama stated that the aid was “important to the security interests of the United States.”
The US Congress froze a $192 million aid package to the Palestinian Authority after its president, Mahmoud Abbas, defied US pressure and sought to attain UN endorsement of Palestinian statehood last September. The presidential waiver means that aid can now be delivered.

The unilateral statehood gambit was strongly opposed by Israel, which said Abbas was seeking to avoid negotiating the necessary compromises and modalities of statehood with Israel. The US indicated it would veto a resolution in the Security Council seeking unilateral recognition of “Palestine,” but the issue has not come to a vote, because the Palestinians were unable to obtain sufficient support in the Security Council. They may yet seek a non-binding endorsement of statehood in the UN General Assembly.

The reality is that in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories, only Jews are people. Non-Jews are unpeople. Jews have rights. Unpeople have no rights.

Palestinians should give up lobbying the UN for fundamental human rights. In 45 years, Palestinians have never been recognized as people. Instead Palestinians should lower their expectations and stop wasting the UN's time, where the US uses its veto in support of continued Palestinian injustice and oppression. Palestinans should lobby PETA instead. If Palestinians can get the same recognition as animals, it would be a huge improvement. Palestinians getting fundamental human rights like other human beings is far too much to expect.

US Veto in support of Ethnic Cleansing:
Israel: US Veto on Settlements Undermines International Law | Human Rights Watch

Jewish settlers in the West Bank have undermined any possibility of any future two-state solution. As a result, Palestinians no longer have the option of a two state solution. Israel's unilateral decision to continue to settle Palestinian land and displace Palestinians from their homes and seize their property (a war crime) forced Palestinians to unilaterally seek UN recognition. Israeli unilateralism has driven the Palestinians to choose the unilateral path. The only difference is that the latter's unilateralism is aimed at advancing a peace agreement, while the former's is aimed at destroying it. Now that the Palestinian effort to get UN recognition has failed, the only fair solution left is a one state solution, where everyone has equal rights regardless of race or religion.

Most Palestinians won't see a dime of all that US aid. Nearly all of it goes to paying for Abbas's security and to support his opulent lifestyle. If the Americans didn't pay for Abbas's security, servants, chefs and the like, he'd be about 50 lbs lighter or dead, killed by a Palestinian assassin. Israel isn't going to cough up the money to protect their puppet dictator when they can rely on their Uncle Sam.

But how much the US spends on Abbas's opulent lifestyle is just chump change compared to how much the US gives Israel in military and economic aid which subsidize Israeli defenses and prop up Israel's living standard.

2011:
$2.8 billion in military aid + $3 billion in loan guarantees = $5.8 billion
Israel

That amount doesn't include hundreds of millions the US gives Israel each year in the form of grants and special programs.

But wait there's more! don't forget the annual US bribes to Egypt ($2 billion) and Jordan ($1 billion) for maintaining peace with Israel:
Factbox: Most U.S. aid to Egypt goes to military | Reuters
U.S. Support for Jordan | Editorials | Editorial

Also take into account the US doesn't actually have this money, so you borrow it and pay compound interest on it....

In total that's about $9 billion a year plus interest, just so the US can help Israeli war criminals treat Palestinians worse than animals.

Then there are the other hidden costs... like 9/11 and all the increased security the US has to buy because so many people hate the US for their support of Israel's oppression and injustice regarding Palestinians.

BTW, what are Americans getting in return?

You'll have to point out where I apologized for Palestinians and Islam... Why don't you guys start a thread about the Muslim immigration threat, so you can apologize for your hero Breivik....

I can back my claims up regarding Israeli War crimes:

no surprise that a thread about the states releasing 192 million to Palestine STILL garners a few anti Israel and anti u.s.a. posts.

The post implies that the American aid to Palestinians actually goes to Palestinians, when it mostly goes to support Abbas... its yet another cost of supporting what Israel does to the millions of people who had the misfortune of living on the land without people G-d gave to Jewish Zionists...

I see what you're pissed off about. The money doesn't go to your hero's in hamas to replenish their arsenal.

I've condemned Hamas repeatedly for their war crimes and I have no trouble doing so now. Hamas is run by a group of lunatic extremists... How about you condemning the lunatic extremists that run Israel?

The opening post in this thread creates an impression that Palestinians will see some benefit from the US aid, when in fact it props up a dictator.

I pointed out the connection between US aid to this region and Palestinian suffering. If you think Palestinians are better off because of this US aid, feel free to make your point...

Please refrain from PERSONAL ATTACKS and keep this thread ON TOPIC!!
