Jesus didn't say those things. Those are the words of St. John. Only the words of Jesus matter to a Christian. The words of the prophets of the Bible are their personal opinions. They are just men, subject to error. Jesus was more than a man and it is He who spoke the truth, the will of God, not His own personal thoughts.
Most of New Testament writings were influenced by Saul.

Some of their beliefs are similar but not all. The Jehovahs Witnesses were founded by an ex Baptist by the name of Charles Taze Russell.
"The Jehovah's Witnesses tradition is a religion founded in the late 19th century C.E. in the United States. Founded by Charles Taze Russell, Jehovah's Witnesses grew out of the Christian Millerite movement and has since spread worldwide. Jehovah's Witnesses doctrine is grounded in Russell's teaching that the Second Coming of Christ has already occurred (in a spiritual, invisible form) and the visible form that will follow will include the establishment of Christ's millennial kingdom here on earth. The group took on the name "Jehovah's Witnesses" in 1931 under the leadership of Joseph Franklin Rutherford."

The name refers to belief in the imminent Second Coming (or "Second Advent") of Jesus Christ. William Miller started the Adventist movement in the 1830s. His followers became known as Millerites.

Sense and reason will get me a lot closer to knowing it all than mumbling prayers at an imaginary friend or studying a Really Old Book.

Of course you know that sence and reason did not begin in this century and that some very old books have some very good sence and reason, and you will agree can be seen in much of what we call the seven wonders as well as the wealth of both kept and practised down through the ages resulting in our presence here today. I enjoy evenings mumbling to imaginary friends while reading dusty old books in the company of magic potions.
