Maybe one day you'll quote Jesus and not the others. Would be a nice change. The peace He gives is not circumstantial, LL. It is essential.
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace." (John 16:33 NIV)

So have I. I have seen more blood and guts than some war vets and I have always remained calm to get the job of saving lives done and, I don't believe Jesus was anything more than a mortal man if he existed at all. My brother, on the other hand, believed in Jesus and he would throw up at the slightest sign of blood. Go figure. It has nothing to do with belief and everything to do with an individual's constitution."You will keep in perfect peace
those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you." (Isaiah 26:3 NIV)
I have experienced this 'perfect peace' personally in the midst of crisis and tragedy, LL. May this peace be yours : )

In the gospel recorded by the apostle John and in the 3rd chapter, the musts are revealed:
1) "You must be born again" (v7)
2) "the Son of Man must be lifted up" (v14)
3) "He must become greater; I must become less." (v30)
To be fair Cliffy, not all Christians are fundies.
Christian is to act like and follow the teachings of Jesus.Agree, LL. In truth, fundamentalism is a religious sect. Christian is a matter of faith.
