Soooo what the Ontario Liberals are effectively saying is that women can't compete with men at the political level and so need a hand up. What a wondefully inspiring message to women from the Libtards.
What I don't understand is how this can possibly be democratic by denying one gender the right to run in a provincial election?
Well first off, you need to rid yourself of the foolish notion that Canada is still a democracy.

BC dippers have been doing that for a decade now. Merit no longer counts with leftards. That is why they have so many stump stupid candidates. Of course that matches the IQ of mos of their voters.
They can't stop anyone from running in the election, just can't represent their party. But then who in their right mind would want to run for a party that discriminates on basis of gender?
We did that by gerrymandering ridiculous ridings (districts down here) to create majority-Black districts.
It's an illusion. Just another way of establishing a quota, and making it more certain that the "favored" group will never win a seat outside of their little reserve.
