boy, man, teen, adult, voting age, driving age...meh, these terms get so muddled in our uncertain times...anywho, this guy was a boy so here we go:
Boy Who Pled Guilty In Nova Scotia ‘Child Pornography’ Case Will Likely Not Get Jail Time
The father of a 15-year-old girl, who committed suicide last year, said yesterday he was told by the Crown that the 20-year-old who photographed & distributed pictures of his daughter having sex while she was vomiting, will likely not get jail time.
“I think getting probation or a suspended sentence for a crime like that, it’s insulting, to put it mildly,” he said in an interview.
“It’s almost like there’s no consequences for it. I mean, it has devastating effects on people.”
The Crown has dropped a second charge against the accused of distributing child pornography. He cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act as he was 17 when the offense occurred.
Halifax lawyer and cyberbullying expert, Wayne MacKay says the accused will not likely get a prison sentence because of his age and because he is a first time offender.
“The likely penalties are not going to be large and it may well be a suspended sentence,” said MacKay.
“The sentence is likely to be a fairly modest one.”
