What I truly think is sad, is that people from other countries see America as "The Perfect Place". Everyone would be comfortably rich, would have a job, a car, a house, a pool and a family. They don't see the "other side" as I like to call it.

They are cities in the US that are as poor some in Africa. You'll never see THAT on TV though, that's for sure.

There is such a hypocricy there. Corruption is at an all-time high.

Let me tell everyone this: If the people knew, what their beloved President did, I swear, there would be a revolution.

I'm surprised by the anti-Liberal bias coming out of Alberta.When their crops didn't appear and the mad cow crisis arose,Albertans certainly took more than their share of the public purse in recompense,and still wanted more! And they have the gall to call us maritimers welfare bums!

I always find Alberta politics hilarious. Before the Leduc oil strike they were a have not province. The CCF was officially put together at a meeting in Calgary. They were as far left as Saskatchewan ever was...further actually because their farmland wasn't as good and they were even poorer. They wanted federal support for everything and they wanted new government programs.

Then they won what amounts to a lottery...it isn't like they did anything to make that oil be there, after all...and they became like a spoiled rich kid without the manners to share or the discipline to know that they are rude and obnoxious.

me neither. I am not rich put I would say middle class and comfortable. Still with buying clothes for a teen age girl and food for a teenage male I am not sure how long that will last..

Thats the Standard for North America, I have several teenagers and they a money drain for sure$$$$.

I think it is just more "pro american" propaganda that the American government constantly feeds it people.(from the day they are born, I would say).

Most people forget one thing about America, the prosperiety under which most people live is created by the enormous size of the economy and and the synergy of the businesses. With 300 Million People compared to Canada's 32 Million, our net worth is a collective of the Synergy. Our access to personal credit, the milder climate creates longer working days and the sun Belt is propped up agri business.

I guess if I was poor I would rather be in Canada as we do have a good safety net, for those who chose to use it. ).

But does it help you not be poor? What about job training, educational credit for college and university, and personal skills.

America is more concerned about the "almighty dollar" and trying to change the world to its beliefs.

Canada actually looks after its citizens. Its not perfect but it is much better than what they have in America.

You really don't know jack about the US and its social programs do you, only what you have been told on CBC? Our social programs are more generous than Canada's could ever afford! My son is Mentally retarded with Epilepsy and he recieves FREE MEDICINE (over $800 a month, free doctor visits, free hospital and a monthly stipend of $700 a month while living at home.

My health plan has it draw backs and it costs money for both me and my employer but it covers everything except a $20.00 co-pay which is there to stop frivilous visits to the Doctor.

My daughter was visiting her aunt in Canada and broke her foot, the hospital would not fix it until $500.00 was paid! I gave them a Credit Card over the Phone and called my insurance carrier which informed the hospital all charges would be covered!

In the United States it is illegal for a hospital to ask for payment before treatment (HILL-BURTON LAW)! They must treat you then ask for payment! Everybody making under $25,000 is covered by medicare and treatment is free, so the poor have safety nets here, ours differ on how they operate.

There are 2 MRI machines in the Province of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia! This summer on my visit to see family in the Maritimes, my wife who is a nurse was shocked to find this out! There are 2 MRI machines in our Parish (County) here in Louisiana! Population of 130,000 people! I have heard horror stories out of the Canadien System as well as the American Sytem, its something that has to be worked on I agree.

As far as tax credits, each family gets a $1000 credit off their income tax for each child, a $3,000.00 off each person in the household and if you income with children is under $25,000 per year, an instant tax rebate/payment of $2,000 per child! You need to bone up on US tax Law! Also our tax rate is 10% on the first $20,000 (after exemptions), 15% on the next 40,000 and 28% after that up to $200,000 per yer income and then it increases to 39.6% after that!

America is slowly becoming a two class society rich and poor. And you will need "W"'s god to help you if you are poor in america.

Plus Canada welcomes and accepts people who are diferent(race, sexual orientation etc) unlike America, and its anti muslim, anti gay tirade they are on now.

You can not discriminate against anyone or else you could be facing a civil or criminal penalty with upto 2 years in jail for violation of civil rights! The majority in the US might not want Gay Marriage, but we have more gays in Mississippi than you have in Saskatchewan! Our largest recreational camp here in the South is a place run by Lesbians and called "Sister Spirit"!!!!
