Ah, but you know, the problems are all Harper's fault, the chief is completely blameless.
Hey MF, do those stereotypical descriptives make you want to speak out against them?Depressing rerun for anti-native stereotypes
Lazy. Incompetent. Dead weight. Basically, a burden on the taxpayers.
No surprise there. Great article by the way Colpy.
I'd love to give you thumbs up, but the stereotyping and generalization just ruins the better parts of your post. Now comes "the rest of the story"; claims of multi-generational sexual abuse involving incest etc., that involves members of the band council (7) and their familes. Medical counsellors working in the community were admonished to keep their mouths shut because if the full story ever came out there wouldn't be enough counselling resources available to deal with the fallout.
I've had it with these retarded communities demanding self determination rights while living off of the Canadian taxpayer to then turn around and create cesspools of ignored needs and squandered resources while they pad their own nests and build their little fifedoms of morally corrupt leaders with us paying the freight and allowing it to happen repeatedly.
We've done nothing but create ghettos of people with no responsibility, no skills, no hope, and no accountability. They need to be dragged into the reality of life in a country on a PLANET where to survive you must be able to compete with the world on as equal a footing as we can possibly make it for them and that does not include handing money to corrupt chiefs and band councils while allowing them to remain corrupt.
I'd love to give you thumbs up, but the stereotyping and generalization just ruins the better parts of your post.
Again, I see truth in parts of your post. It's to bad the blanket, bitter contempt ruins the message.I understand completely but the words I would use instead would be those that describe a trend and a 'normal' condition not the unusual or false categorization. If it were otherwise I would not have stereotyped or generalized.
"They" fits the bill for me as my age precludes me giving "them" the benefit of the doubt having lived long enough to know that the reserve that functions well and in a 'healthy' manner, both fiscally and morally, is in the minority. Federal Government is a contributor but not solely to blame. We all carry some of the guilt for not demanding "they" live up to the standards we would impose on others.
Any time we relinquish our responsibility to entities such as various religious organizations and government agencies without providing oversight we abrogate our collective responsibility to those people they assume to oversee. They take the atrocities perpetrated upon them and ratchet it up a notch or ten when they become the perpetrators of these same or worse deeds on their own people! Worse crime in my mind and no I won't give them the benefit of the doubt using the excuse "they don't know any better" as that would be stereotypical or a generalization. They damn well know they want new loaded pick-ups and ATV's!
See my last post. Your words change, but it's the same bitter blather.Well; that'll happen when they pull up their socks and start to actually consider being responsible for themselves instead of requiring us to fund them and at the same time demanding autonomy to behave badly.
Every year there is another revelation about some crisis on a reserve; whether it be the youth are all sniffing glue because they have no hope or the elders are all neglecting their children while in an alcoholic stupour. Now if we are the ONLY guilty parties in this equation I see your point of not generalizing but coming to their aid without critical comments or disparaging remarks being made BUT; if they actually share a considerable portion of the blame AND they make no efforts to help each other but merely line up to sing the same songs over and over.
All non-native Canadians are supposed to feel guilt over their largely 'self induced plight' but natives themselves as belonging to separate bands have no filial responsibilities towards each other? How does that disconnect work for you? Until they show some moral standing beyond using us as sugar-daddies they deserve scorn and derision. I'm not seeing those successful bands all chipping in to help with this latest fiasco, how come? Could it be they don't give a rat's patoot about each other?
Again, I see truth in parts of your post. It's to bad the blanket, bitter contempt ruins the message.
For some, swallowing pride, is hard enough. Without having to deal with false, generalized, stereotypical BS accusations.
Just once I'd like to see a reasoned post without all the generalization, stereotyping and usual BS claims and accusations, levied against the whole of the First Nations.
You haven't met SCB, lol.Well my daughter in law is a nice lady so by extention all native women must be nice.
As I've said previously, the important and agreeable parts of your posts, are lost in the BS and bitterness.Yep; I'm old enough and realistic enough I don't play the "politically correct" game; calls 'em as I sees 'em happening over and over and ......!
Your posts are an indicator; no acceptance of any responsibility for nthis latest fiasco should be bourn by the natives themselves.
Tell me something; what system did you grow up under that instilled any sense of responsibility in you? Was it a system that said "no matter how badly you personally behave it will always be someone elses fault" ? Was it a system that said "here's your money now do something good with it but, if you choose not to, well; it won't be your fault and we'll just give you more money"?
Make them accountable for having three salaried chiefs and 29 members of a council for a band with less than 2,000 members.
Yeah, yeah, I know; more blather.
I've known pre-pubescent kids with a higher degree of accepting responsibility than these folks.
You haven't met SCB, lol.
She's reading over my shoulder now, lol.I'm also smart enough to consider her nice until proven wrong. I figure if she puts up with you she must be a saint or higher. BTW what's it worth not to have this post forwarded to her?
She's reading over my shoulder now, lol.
And she says thank you, and you're right, lol.
Words to live... err... survive by.Of course I'm right. I always ask the supreme commander what my opinion is before I step in doo doo. Almost never wrong now.
