I'd have to agree with this point. It appears that the Liberals are also suffering a bit of an identity crisis when it comes to their platform.

If they can make some headway after electing their new leader, that may split the vote on the left to the benefit of the Conservatives. However, if they don't make any discernible impression, we will see the rest of their voter support start to dwindle, and I suspect most of them would go left.

Expect a significant number to vote green instead of NDP. Especially in BC and Ontario.
It would be a great loss if we wound up with the Liberal brand disappearing altogether.

The NDP will never actually win a majority government such as the Conservatives have right now. Canada is for Conservatives not left wingers.

Its still primarily Quebec. The minute Tommy actually shows a spine to the Bloc base in Quebec, it will fade. Of course, he may never do that.

But wait until election day and we will see what the only truly accurate poll is. Early term polls on a majority govt routinely have the majority party way down. Then a year before election, they will put a sweet budget in, a couple feel good bills and an election campain and another win. I think this plan is what was really what was inside those red books that Creitien waved around.

Exactly. I can't see Mulcair being completely on board with the idea of separatism -- but who knows what he'll do to get votes? Then again, I can see the majority of the country turning their back to him if he plans to split the country.

The only poll that matters is the one after election day when all the votes are counted. Remember the Alberta provincial election a few months back that had Primrose leagues ahead of the Tories the day before the vote?

Errr, not quite. I'm a Tory myself, but I think most of us can acknowledge that at the end of the day our country falls center-left on the political spectrum.
