After a long weekend - I thought the people here would be laid back having a good time and getting along..... wrong....

The majority of exchange seem to be again following the theme of comparisons between the two nations of Canada and the U.S. - and I wonder if this is going to be yet another PMS session of
bashing.

I hope Tuesday brings some calmer topics - having some fun - appreciating friendships from whatever part of the globe we choose to make our home....and refraining from the loaded stuff which the past few days has birthed for us to either swallow or shut up.

It gains us nothing, in fact sets us back into paranoia and suspicion - and nobody wants to spend their spare time creating hostilities do they? If so I question their agenda.... why would anyone want to treat complete strangers as some of you are doing here with some of the ugly challenges none of us have any responsibilities for in the first place.

Maybe Tuesday will be a nicer day...

Autumn is my favorite season. Near the end of high school I developed quite the affinity for woodland fungus of all varieties, especially the exotic things like slime moulds and polypores. Autumn is the best season for mushroom foraging, I hope I can get down to the Schwarzwald before winter hits. That or any forest with a good ecosystem.

Oh Ya. I get my hour of solitude in the afternoon again. My little time to clear my mind before the after school and supper rush hits. I guess that's something most of us here, that are parents, can relate to, back to school peace and quiet.

Oh you all go ahead and have a good time while I suffer sans sanitary services...The homestead is getting connected to the town services today...and I think I chose the wrong plumbing contractor...he hasn't stopped bitching since he got here.

Haha, when you are a grad student, you dread the end of the summer. Over the summer you develop a feeling of ownership of the campus, then September hits and the stomping grounds are flooded with people you don't recognize. Suddenly you can't walk around without paying attention to where you are going, thoughts deep into the mysteries of your overspecialised field. :)

I enjoy fall because it puts me that much closer to finishing my degree, finally...

I also enjoy the cooler weather, as it's a 3 km trip one way to school, and I don't enjoy arriving on campus in sweaty clothes.

I had my first wild salmon this summer, very tasty. I heard it was a poor year for the Fraser river Sockeye, much less fish returning than expected. Hopefully they don't go the way of the Atlantic salmon.

Sssshhh, bite your tongue!!!

I suggested to my plumber, that I just fill my new holey front yard with water and stock it with Trout...he suggested the town wouldn't quite go for it...

My poor yard...

If the PVC was any thinner Bear (we ran electrical), I'd suspect you were posting pics of my yard. Of course, we didn't have the benefit of machinery, our forty feet of three foot deep trenching was dug by hand.

It's next to impossible to get the damn machines here, things are so busy, and hubby wanted the workout. LOL. We had to trench from the house to the garage (because 110 needed to be traded out for 220 so that he has MAX power for his tools), and then we had to trench from the house to the new hot tub location. We're too damn cheap to pay anyone else to do the work for us. So, I sat and watched, while he sweated away. LOL. At least the next step, 12 foot deep pilings, can't POSSIBLY be done by hand, so he HAS to get machinery for that.

You were running electrical out to a garage...why three feet deep? I dug plenty of trenches this summer, deepest I went was about 10 inches, enough so the bobcat wouldn't break the conduit.
