I think a lot of the mouthbreathers and other wayless wanderers might actually want to be seen as 'sick'. It gives them the validation, the excuse not to try, not to make a change, not to be honest with themselves, not to have to work, not to have to take responsibility.

Yep, I believe most 'depression' is mostly a crock, psychosomatic and a crutch...oh sure we can all get sad, get 'the blues', they write goddamn songs just for that wallow in self-pity but this 'I'm depressed man' bullsh!t is really getting out of hand and starting to piss me off ok.

You mean magic mushrooms right? Cause they're good for your brain too.
yes magic mushrooms

So, brain-chemistry imbalances can be resolved by sitting around talking about dreams and daddy?

If only Robin Williams had known!
brain chemistry imbalances are aided by chemistry and correct thinking...I don't know about psychotherapy regarding dreams and daddy but if there are things that are buried they are likely contributing to poor thinking...and poor thinking and a loss of impulse control does eventually lead to suicide in many cases

I don't know much about Robin Williams life and the factors that may have contributed to the psychological pain he was experiencing but impulse control was right up there for him

Scientists Have Discovered Why Magic Mushrooms Are So 'Magical' - Mic

Basically, psilocybin might be temporarily causing users' brains to enter a hyperconnected state, perhaps beginning to explain the strange, sometimes frightening but often enlightening experiences that typify a psychedelic trip. In just one speculatory example, the researchers suggest that this effect could very well explain drug-induced synaesthesia, a rarely experienced phenomenon in which one sensory or cognitive pathways can trigger an involuntary response in another. Think smelling a color, or a sound.

Why you should care: Understanding exactly what psilocybin does to the brain is important to the study of consciousness, because it disrupts typical brain patterns and alters perceptions of reality. For example, LiveScience suggests that it could help explain how people construct their own sense of self.

More concretely, it may also help explain why studies have found that psychedelic experiences administered in a calm, physician-assisted environment (essentially the old concept of drug, set and setting) can have striking psychological effects. Studies have shown magic mushrooms might be able to calm the ego and inspire optimism, quit smoking and even help people break free of troublesome personality traits. Patients with terminal diseases have even talked about how psilocybin helped them come to terms with their own mortality.

A healthy diet, exercise, and a strong base of solid, rational and supportive people who don't enable would go a long way to help a lot of people much of the time.

he was manic much of the time, he didn't even need a script half of the time, that funny just rolled right out of him, but he was difficult to watch

All he did was copy Jonathan Winters with addition of lots and lots of cocaine to keep the addiction of mania running 24/7.

Breaking a mania addiction is harder than breaking a drug addiction.

I think we may all have come to the conclusion that for the most part doctors are no longer able to prevent health issues nor help you maintain your health. They are, however able to prescribe a pill to take care of any "issue" you may feel you have.

Or maybe doctors are just tired of telling patients what they have to do to maintain a healthy lifestyle only to be told by those patients that they are.

Nothing like watching a morbidly obese person tell you they eat no more then the average person. Most of the general public believe that it's alright to have a pop a day. "A" pop might be a 2tlr bottle or it may be 250ml can. Eating fast food as a meal a couple times a week, sitting in front of the telly for 4 hrs a night after having spent 8 hrs behind a desk and 2 hrs sitting in a car. Why work hard for good health when we work so hard to do as little as possible and can take a pill instead?

Forgot to add, that most regular restaurant food is so loaded with sugar and salt that it's not a healthy option either.
Having one a day still doesn't replace the body's desire for real food. The average pop is probably the 591ml bottle. at 240 calories that's the equivalent of 26 pounds per year of weight gain that has to be burned off. Between pop, chips, chocolate bars and ice cream the North American diet is pretty sad.

You're right. I've also heard from several nurses that many of the one a days people buy become "bed pan bullets' meaning they are digested by the body anyways.

De-population will happen one way or another I guess.

A lot of sound advice in this thread. Of course the 6.9 billion is just a small fraction of the actual take of the worst drug pushers on this planet, these pigs murder millions every year with their junk, of course they try to make it a slow death to extend the duration of our bleeding money over them. The vast majority of these synthetic compounds are totally unnecessary and many times innefective or worse.
I hate these bastards most of all. They'll sit there aand tell you to your face that there's no medicinal value to cannabis whatever, in faact most politicians will tell you the same thing.
