Yes, I remember that clearly. The French Canadians could only think it was England's war while all of Europe was being taken over country by country. They didn't seem to realize that the whole world including THEM would be speaking German shortly if the allies were defeated.

Bombed the hell out of England eh...... yup, thoroughly brainwashed. The facts do not support your view. It is no longer 1942 and we actually know what happened over there between '33 and '45, at least some of us do.

Haha! Where are you getting your 'facts' from? From modern history books? From the internet? Have you ever talked to someone who was there?
Take a stroll to your nearest Canadian Legion and see if you can find any old person who was actually 'there'. You will find out what the real facts are about Germany's capabilities and how close they came to winning the war. And would have won if the rest of the world besides GB had not united and persevered.
There are even young people who visit places like Auschwitz and party there. It's all about 'them'. They have no idea, not a care about the thousands of people who suffered unimaginable horrors and were executed there. Because they have become so numb to the realities of the evil in the world, they can't even see what is happening right now; that another evil force is threatening their freedoms, lifestyles and their lives. He alienated his own caucus, he fully alienated French from English and to top it off the west from central Canada.

I even admit to voting for Trudeau senior until he screwed me in '75 with wage and price control which didn't work in the end, then screwed me again in '97 with their change in the capital gains laws . I've even voted NDP at the provincial level a few times.
So I can see the good and the bad of past government with a somewhat objective eye, and I say somewhat, because opinions are always colored by our life experiences....My Dad hated Borden with a passion, but I can see that the circumstances were not favorable for any prime minister at the time, and Bourassa at the time rightly or wrongly did a lot to stir things up.

We are all ideologues to a certain degree. I agree with your Dad when it comes to Borden. I much preferred Laurier over him. As for Bourassa, I think time told the story that what he did was for the best. As much as I really didn't care for King (bit of a nutcase IMO) he ended up implementing What Bourassa wanted seen done, even if it was just 7 days and more show than anything else.He helped move Canada more towards independence from Britain than Borden, that's for damn sure.
