Drove from Prince George to Cali when I was a kid one time, box of the pickup was piled high with the usual dump of snow and there was still snow in it when I reached CA. The weight came in handy in the canyon and again in OR.
I had an Argo at one time. I could outclimb sleds. Outswim them, too, for that matter.
Okay, we see lots of them and really can't keep them straight, and I believe D.C.'s is "Taxation without represntation"?
Mel Lastman was a fun guy to watch from afar, but I think he did get a bum rap for calling in the Army for help cleaning up. NS called in the Navy to help clean up after Hurricane Juan, and it was much appreciated, by everyone.
Too bad the city of Boston is still sticking to its Forced Bussing ruling that has proven to be a failure. It costs the city millions to bus inner city kids back and forth in order to integrate the schools. Now all they're doing is bussing African-American and Latinos back and forth because the white people are long gone.
They bus kids here in the inner city too. Schools aren't that far apart that they NEED to be bussed. It probably has more to do with their parents blowing the kid's money on crack and not buying them appropriate clothing.
Well if you didn't know about Forced Bussing in Boston during the 70's I'll fill you in.
Somehow somebody got the bright idea that the reason schools were so bad in minority neighborhoods was because the schools in white neighborhoods were better. So some white liberal judge from the extremely wealthy town outside of Boston said we will take half the poor black kids from these schools and bus them to the white city neighborhoods. Then we will take half the poor white kids and bus them into the black neighborhoods. Then all will be wonderful!
Of course that is not what happened. What happened was poor white kids and poor black kids were battling it out in the hallways of the schools and rioting. So begun the white flight from the city of Boston and the increase in enrollment of Catholic Schools.
They actually made a movie about it... filmed in Canada of course.
