In an EF5 there's little chance of survival if directly hit and you're above ground. The problem with Oklahoma is that it's ground doesn't make for easy digging of underground shelters. It's seriously costly, but I agree with one comment I saw elsewhere, is the cost so much that it's more important than human - children especially- life? There's a mandatory law that says schools must keep kids there when a warning is issued so they're not on the road and more vulnerable.
I'd like to see what 'pork' was put into the Sandy stuff specifically that made these Reps vote against it, and how they can guarantee that someone won't put 'pork' into anything they want. I am glad assistance was signed quickly and it'll hopefully help but disasters happen to everyone, everywhere. To me, voting against assistance for any reason (come on, if there is pork added to bills, deal with it later somehow) is anti-human.
I also find it ironic that there'll be people who will be wanting/demanding Government help, and yet were likely or will likely be anti-"Big Government Helping People" once everything's over with. Situations like this bring out the hypocrite in everyone I guess.
