Hmm, I know when it's spring because every year people call me on the first day of spring and say "happy birthday!" I can understand those of you without birthdays on March 21st might not know day-to-day if it's spring or not. Just so no one is left wondering, it's about noon here and no one has called me wishing me a happy birthday yet. Usually on my birthday my sister (annoyingly) calls me at the crack of dawn. She wouldn't be this late, so I don't think it's spring yet.

Not that anything happens that quickly;
we'll get enough warning to take the land from the people who still have a habitable region on the planet. I'm thinking Venezuela would look pretty good if there was an ice age; Hugo Chavez can have the frozen global north he despises so much.

Electric Volcanoes and Earthquakes

Piers Corbyn is attempting to predict the likely hood of earthquakes using his proprietary Solar-Lunar-plasma physics technique. My interest is how fluctuations in transient solar plasma discharges can result in earthquakes, apart from affecting the weather. Note that Piers also limits his targets to the known subduction zones.
In previous posts I suggested that earthquakes might be related to the earth attempting to re-equilbrate electrically with its plasma environment after a transient solar wind surge which quickly raises the earth’s internal electric charge. Behaving as a capacitor, the earth will discharge it’s excess charge once a critical potential difference is reached between it and the plasma cell its immersed in and which has returned to its normal state.
I don’t want to ignore Tommy Gold’s idea that some earthquakes are due to pressure release of a build up of methane, but Gold’s mechanism is difficult to link to the obvious electrical surges that solar plasma produce via CME’s, etc. So it seems likely that if Piers forecasts are verified then we will need to seriously consider the hypothesis that the earth’s weather is fundamentally electrically driven by the earth’s interaction with the solar plasma that itself is being modulated by larger plasma phenomena.
It will interesting to note when and where any earthquakes occur in terms of Piers’ table above over the next month or so. Unfortunately I’ll be in the field so will find out when I get back late June.
