That shift is a sign of where the union thinks the real support will come from.

It's members vote for the party the union endorses because they recognize that support.

Make no mistake, it's a huge win for Horwath.

Are you accusing union members of being mindless sheep?

No it was the expected and only logical move for the union . The fact that they went against their traditional political party to support Liberals in previous elections was the surprise .

I am hoping that Liberal voters who see they are going to lose, jump ship and vote NDP. Only a combined Liberal and NDP vote will defeat Rob Ford.

She who gets the unions, reaps the spoils.

Ontario’s largest education union opts to endorse NDP over Liberals

WOW what a surprise.

GOvernment unions are for sure.

No person capable of rational thought would want Ford defeated.

Just look at the disaster the Dippers have made of Alberta and BC.

Northern Ontario,
An old post of mine, and I still believe the same way.....
And the same goes for endorsements!

------

I was a union member for 40 years and I still say that unions shouldn't meddle in politics...... I was even actively involved at a meeting, in getting a vote turned down in a motion to donate to a particular party, namely the NDP, and getting the union president mad at me (piss on him) .........and at the time I was voting NDP.....
At the time the reason I gave....(and it is still valid)....that it was unfair to the members that vote for other parties, to have part of their dues going to a political party that they don't agree with....
And the majority (so high that they didn't even need to count the votes) agreed with me!---------

I once did similar in a union meeting , however they wanted to donate to the communist party . I won the day , only to have the next meeting stacked and the motion to support communist party passed .

My Union President proposed that same idea last month and put it to a vote.

I voted no

So did the majority and it was defeated

Can somebody tell me what the difference is between the Chamber of Commerce and a Union?

The Chamber of Commerence won't save my job when I break something.

But they will spend your dues money supporting causes you may not necessarily agree with .
